Well that's a positive way of thinking negative can be that he want her to rely only on him so she will revolve around only him and not look in any other guy's way- I haven't read the story just wanted to reply
Yeah that’s why I was a little confused. The way it was written, I thought it could be interpreted slightly yandere “only rely on me” but its such an otherwise fluffy story, I thought there must be a better meaning
Then other can be in positive way if the girl is a little tomboyish or prefer doing stuff herself he can also mean that not to strain ur self too much as he is here for her if it's a fluffy story then he probably mean it on positive way

It is the knight based on what something a commenter said on novelupdates who had read the novel claimed it is him and apparently he falls for the mc first and gets a bit jealous of others who around her aka other men.ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ﾉ~ The mc does fall for him but from what I heard it is not until towards the end of the novel (due to her first impression of him still scared her) that she confesses her feelings. Σ(っ°Д °;)っ
This is mainly because of all the chaos she ends up dealing with some of which is because of the King's lazy nature in a certain matter which the King hands over to the mc to handle.(⌒▽⌒)
i didnt realize this excuse was kinda common in BL when i first started reading the genre.
“straight men will leave you” “cant date a straight man.” “You don’t actually like me. You like women too.” And it shows their tragic backstory of “straight men” cheating on them with/leaving them for women to justify their preferences.

ikr?? It's so cliché how they mostly portrait straight people/relationships in BLs as something traumatic and bad, while also erasing bi/pan/etc , as if you can only be gay or straight... I guess it's an overused method to extend the plot and create more drama

I wouldn't mind, no, actually I'd prefer that Yuito found himself a girl with brains who admired him for all his positive qualities and saw him as the ideal romantic partner instead of this moron girl who is in love with the idea of being in love and doesn't appreciate what she's already got going for her.
I’m of a different, rather unpopular opinion. Everything up until he confesses is his fault. He sits in the background and pines and gets upset. As far as I’ve read, he just kind of waits around for it to be his turn to be her crush rather than being proactive. If he confesses and she ignores him, then I would be more in the mind set that he needs a better girl, but as of right now, he’s just a classic case of a cowardly childhood friend who can’t say anything because... reasons?!?!?
