mc was mistreated, unloved, and discouraged by the ex for years! she felt disconnected from her entire body and self, not even caring about anything other than him because of the constant emotional/physical abuse and belittling. he killed her sex drive, and made her feel unworthy of indulging in simple interests outside a husband and devoted slave-wife! however, as she’s moving on and healing from the trash she starts trying “childish” things, like the cigs or small impulsive spending to get to know who she really is. with this comes the ml, whos been taking care of her behind the scenes and his attempt of courting her. he’s shown deep devotion and respect, with hopes he can be a part of her life because he wants to make her happy directly. her decision to have sex with ml was a fully sound and reasonable choice?? it didn’t come out of nowhere, she FINALLY felt safe and vulnerable after all these years! it’s part of her adult journey of healing, and moving on from an awful as well as traumatizing first heartbreak
idk why young readers these days are so scared of intimacy in media when it serves a purpose! can woman in media be eager about sex without the misogyny. it’s not a moral failing to have desire, so this purity mindset is ridiculous and sad especially with how the story itself is a smut focused one too
i guess ill read for the sex only since that’s all this story focuses on. i enjoy seeing sexual acts used to impact the plot/development but the kidnapping seems entirely lackluster because it focused more on their intimacy being less horrible than what it actually was
i don’t expect mc to be in constant or sustaining despair, but it doesn’t feel like ml’s actions have been taken seriously or is treated with deep pedigree of disgust. rather than witnessing mc process these very traumatizing experiences, we see more of the act itself and these characters in pleasure > the aftermath or humane thoughts behind them. which i didn’t expect a lot since the first season was just like this too, but i coped since mc was too focused on the murder case. while tae expressed his hate, it feels contradictory when he fully knows ml won’t bend to his will. when mc does acts for ml, it feels voyeuristic instead of a desperate ploy for survival or a solid plan since he knows he won’t get hurt
every character given attention in this story has well rounded personalities and depth, even if their screen time is short. i fell in love with the mcs and how they broke down each others walls, then truly fell for each other. but something about seeing side characters engage with them and also having complexities makes this a much more enjoyable read. they’re not flat comical villains!! sure they are assholes and manipulators, but there’s much more grey areas in everyone’s actions as well and it all boils down to communication and willingness to understand
the art style was sunning. but… their relationship and personalities felt dull amongst the overall story. mc’s loneliness and admiration for his crush were good plots, but i needed more background on the lead up to the rape as well as ml’s experience coping with it. ml does express his feelings about it several times but it brushes over it briefly. imo this story used rape as the biggest overarching tool, but failed to look deep into the psyche of it all and was surface level
ml deserved his revenge, but i can’t get behind mc’s actions not getting explored. we focused more on his heartbreak instead of why he hurt ml in the first place and then never did it again despite having all the same habits. for their relationship itself im not into it but i don’t hate it either? it just needed more development since it felt so rushed
i think he has problems confronting his own feelings of rejection or loneliness. he’d rather push people away first and control how they’re in his life, rather than be the one abandoned again. considering how easily his dad picked the “better twin” and how they didn’t keep in touch… it hurt him on a fundamental level more than what we saw. and then with ml, he was mistaken as that very twin and probably feels some type of complex from that. he wasn’t chosen for himself, but instead the image his brother made for them
he’s probably wanting to feel some sort of power by being mean to his brother and the ml. if he can choose when to see ml on his own terms, he’ll feel less awful about their entire situation. if this theory is right, i think the author wrote his pain in a perfect way. he’s frustrating and not making good decisions right now because he’s hurt
even though he created an unhealthy, emotional co-dependent relationship with young winter, he never took advantage of him in a tainted way. with all his hardships, he found solace in winters childlike innocence and ability to accept anything about him. do i still feel bad for winter and see him as a victim of grooming? yes
but raymond was habitually drugged and sexually abused out of his mind, and their small time together came to a halt after realizing winter was in as much danger as he was in. i can but also can’t blame him for abandoning the kid. i obviously don’t think the way adult winter treats current raymond is okay. but i thought he would’ve figured out on his own by now that raymond deserves someone who doesn’t do the very things those past bad men would do
im not ignoring the stuff the king put him through but after twenty years and seeing ilics mindset about their relationship now, i believe he does like the king romantically and refuses to believe it himself lmao. not trying to be delusional but from all the context clues ilic refuses the king’s own affection outwardly still but his mind seeks his presence and even craves it
