this is no shade but i didn’t see this at all when i read abel telling karas to spare the hostage. he watched and zoned out after seeing the prince and his subordinate take out over a dozen lives ruthlessly… then after seeing everyone’s fear, the first hurt hostage, and thinking about his own first encounter with war- that’s when he decided one life should be spared in this situation for now. instead of having injured or killed citizens just for one bad guy, since karas violence was uncaring for other innocent bystanders
