The crow became a God because the previous Sun god Wele fed him (the things that grew from his body). And about how the Sun god died it was because he kept feeding the villagers the same thing he did to Kuro so his energy grew weak and eventually the villagers buried him to fertilize their soil.

No, there's a scene when they were playing together in the garden and the brother strays away looking outside like completely out of his mind and he seems like he heard someone calling his name, and he get drowned in that feeling, and before it gets him all Claude called his name, and he snapped out of it. So i think that other emperor was there before everything started, and he did that cause the brother's magic was weak, just as himself before, so he helped him but took over his body and possessed him when Claude killed him so he can still stay alive. And there's other scene when that late emperor ordered the brother to kill Claude's mom but the brother finally refused.
