i initially wrote long paragraphs, but i believe many dgaf anyways. basically: 2 grown ass adults in their 30s, 1 j more vanilla, agreed to the punishment arrangement, they fuck everyday, kinky sex has been progressively introduced to lyle throughout these 100+ chapters, when lyle really didn't like something, ash had stopped doing it after, lyle has shown he likes the rough & pushy sex with ash compared to gentle & soft ones, etc.
is ash the most shining bright, neon green flag with no flaws? absolutely not, but he isn't the glaring red flag, sexual assaulter, potential rapist that some of you want him to be. you're j infantilising lyle & treating him like he's a 3-year old. like bffr rn, ever since the v beginning, with the story-telling of this manhwa, we knew damn well in-depth communication about sex wasn't gonna be a thing here. to draw the line at buying sex toys is crazy
first of all, regarding the sniper - *SPOILERS HERE*, iirc a while ago, it was said they'll have their own story in a spin-off. source, trust me - because i don't remember where i saw this either. so with this in mind, i think this ending tied off leewon & ceasar's story specifically really well
if you only read the update alone + no further updates on the assassin situation, the ending frankly feels lackluster & as if it isn't tying up much. but frankly, if you remember how much their relationship has gone through, i think it's a really good ending that sums it all well
a lot of people will say many things about this work - but it's a more realistic/logical & reasonable approach on a relationship with a traumatised mafia boss. many also say there's no character development with caesar, but that's exactly why. it's said explicitly by leewon himself, even in this last chapter, that caesar has never been loved & does not understand how to go about it. he's learning - but he's an adult with many years of trauma to unlearn & unwind. the important thing about caesar is that he's trying, & will continue to try with leewon to be a better partner. not really a better person, but maybe he'll get there one day
i've seen discourse on tiktok & others saying leewon doesn't really love caesar & it's practically stockholm syndrome, but i think many aren't comprehending that leewon is an unreliable narrator + he's a male lawyer with an ego. snippets are seen when he says he loves looking down on caesar when he gives him a blowjob + his date idea with caesar & how pissed he was when caesar was j playing around with him. it's clear leewon wants to be equals with caesar, & frankly, it seems more out of pride & ego (as a fellow law student, i can definitely understand why). regarding him as an unreliable narrator, we see it when he got a text from caesar. he's cussing him out, but his father clearly sees that he's in a good mood & excited to see caesar. iirc, this happens a number of times too. & with how leewon basically shut his father down completely on the idea of breaking up with caesar - like come on y'all. thinking hats on. leewon's father is also an ex mafia boss & the lomonosov army aren't to be looked down upon, especially if caesar went to lomonosov when he was officially taking over his own... "team" (? i forgot the term for mafias, LOL). if leewon really didn't love caesar, he could leave - & if you bring up how caesar shot him before, leewon now knows & could leave in a more discreet manner. + even then, he wanted to tell caesar he was leaving. he didn't want to leave caesar alone - heck, he was leaving FOR their relationship too
their relationship has went through A LOT. they've developed so much as both individuals & in their relationships - with each other & others, though caesar doesn't exactly have "others" the way leewon does
with all of that, i think my ONLY gripe with this manhwa is that i wish they included all of the important moments of their relationship in a flashback in the final chapter. that inclusion would REALLY tie up their story properly. otherwise, i think it was a good, slow ending promising a good future together & the end of the drama surrounding their individual lives. i do wish we get more side stories of them j living their mundane lives though, or maybe one with caesar's pov instead of leewon's. that would be interesting
I love your review and analysis. I'm re-reading the whole story and that observation about Leewon's character was spot on.
Me too. I wish we saw more domestic fluff between them. This story is such an emotional rollercoaster for me. At times it made me just turn my screen off to scream in my head. Lmao. But I love it tbh. I love the unconventional love story and the characters. Cesar wasn't just fixed at the end of the story and that made it more realistic and more relatable. Because whether we admit it or not everyone of us is a product of nature and nurture and we're all bringing all of those when we put ourselves in a relationship.
i wish we saw more of why exactly sota didn't accept wataru that day. i mean, i Might be able to piece together why - that it all happened in a rush, he was given only 2 extreme options & to make it hastily, so he couldn't possibly jump the gun, he didn't know what love was, etc. but the reasoning in the story of "he'll think i don't like him back", "if there was a heroine...", "i wonder if i made the right decision" & only going back once his storyboard was approved & praised... initially, i thought he didn't accept sota because they're both men & he's worried about how their relationship will go, especially as a shoujo mangaka who's only thought of straight romance before, but it didn't go that way. he mulled his decision over, but there was never a reason why explicitly. i wish we j got to see more of his reasoning
i get it that the world of the awakened is full of stuck up, arrogant people whose egos are easily shatterable + this manhwa includes themes of subtle racism/classism, but mg, this cycle pisses me off
ntm i j have extra intolerance for women who hate women. i love women sooo much, so when a woman makes me hate her because she's an asshole, the hatred i have for her is INTENSE. like men being assholes? a regular tuesday, but WOMEN??? girl, you need to get publicly humiliated
i'm also concerned because if both jiwoo & jiyoung have people who envy them romantically (juron (?) + this freaky lady), then there's a few routes the author could take, 1 being where they go crazy because their egos are butthurt, so they team up to bring both jiwoo & jiyoung down. i can see juron at least still caring a bit for jiyoung (atp, but he's been objectifying her as a trophy a lot recently), but that freaky lady dgaf about jiwoo. she's j fucking arrogant & all-important in her head. + with all of the different people coming into the picture & his friends nowhere to be seen. I'M GOING DIZZY WITH FRUSTRATION

maybe it's because i'm finishing college soon myself, but if it's a story of progression from high school to college, i always prefer their college lives. i love seeing the characters develop more into themselves & their relationship throughout college. i j wish we could see more of that, even with the story being quite flat
