Well I’ve been on this website since 2014 and read a lot of manga so truthfully I doubt it’s 100% the seme fault. People will dislike anything even if it was for a dumb reason like for ex they hate the author work or drawing so they will lowly rate all of their works. You can believe that it’s fully the seme fault if you want. But as I say that is your opinion not fact. Some will agree while others disagree. Who truly knows the reason why people dislike it. Do i care? Not really since personally i love the story. Sure i read a lot of manga that is better then this one especially the art is way better than this art but i still love the story.
A lot of people can relate more to a “whimpy” insecure seme then a asshole rapey seme or rich and good at everything seme. As i said before not everyone will like the seme especially because of his personality but i find it really refreshing to read it kinda like there was a personality switch between the seme and uke.
How usually uke be the weak ones while semes are the strong ones but that not what it is here. Yes there are other manga like that but it’s really not as common as a weak uke and strong seme. It can be hard to find a strong uke and weak seme especially one that you will like.

She’s sadistic. She literally did everything to destroy her main character who had already suffered so much, was so pure and kind, and did not deserve that. What did he (and us) get out of this story? She took his family, she took the only person that ever showed him love, she took his only support who he considered a brother and made him mentally and physically abuse him and then if that wasn’t enough rape him. She took his dreams and not only crushed them, but then told him he wasn’t allowed to have dreams anymore and that he’s going to settle for the rest of his life. She took the porn industry and made it ruin him. She made him into an unwilling prostitute and a criminal. She took his job, his friends, his coworkers, his perfect boyfriend, his self confidence and self respect. Sure he has a boyfriend now But that man is ruined on the inside. He thinks he is nothing and thinks he deserves nothing which is what I think she feels about her characters. I’m so angry and hurt for a character I’ve never met and the worst part is she made him so real. She told the story so well. For what? To romanticize rape? To destroy someone in front of our very eyes? To tell us porn is bad and that everyone in it is fucked up in someway and ends up being a prostitute? I hate her man. I hate the author so much I can’t contain it.
Oh yes and let’s not forget that the ONLY BLACK PERSON we saw in this manga (which is set in fucking New York) is a villain in the story. So props to her. I’m now going to stop crying and remember that there are good people out there and that the world isn’t usually this cruel. But wow. You put it super harshly and you very much invalidated her opinion, which actually has some merit.
WOW takes some extreme steps to make sure that everything in Ed's life tumbles down one after the next and a lot of people think that's realistic, but it's not. In reality, Ed's downward spiral could have been stopped every step of the way. Like for a quick summary – starting with the debt: hospitals dont require you to pay beforehand for services and medical debt doesn't accrue interest so there's no reason to take a loan out on it. Ok you took out the loan, if it's accruing interest so quickly that it's impossible to pay, you just don't pay. Plenty of people default on loans. Ok you feel like you have to pay the loan and decide to do porno – make sure you know what you're getting yourself into and have calculated that the money made from porno will actually help pay off the loan (in this instance, it wasn't enough, he would have had to do like 300 pornos). Also know that you can end up like Mia Khalifa. Okay you ended up like Mia Khalifa, forget the fucking loan (you can't be forced to pay anything if you don't have enough income to live off of). Okay you decided to prostitute yourself – know something about the clients before you show up at their homes for a house-call. They could be a serial killer for god's sake. Ok Chang offers to write off the debt. Fucking take it. Or say you'll take it, that you're going home now and will talk later. Never contact him again. OR, at the very least, don't assault him. Ok you got raped and still have debt – there's no reason your boyfriend has to quit the passion he's spent 10 years of his life on just because you or someone else (author) thinks it's immoral and can't exist with a happily ever after.
So – she's okay to put it how she did. She was upset. The author really reached for it with this whole plot. It doesn't reflect how adults think or work and it actually does a lot of harm because a lot of people reading this don't even have credit cards or know the first thing about any kind of debt / definitely know nothing about porn or prostitution etcetc, but think this is so real and deep. It's a disservice.

You're right! WOW makes no sense for a manhwa based in America. In some states Ed wouldn't be responsible for his grandfather's medical costs. In other states,, as a next of kin he'll receive the debt but there are payment plans with fixed or no interest rates.
If we think about this logically, then we wouldn't have a useless plot. When his grandfather first got sick someone from the hospital's billing department would've reached out and let him know his options. There would be no reason for his grandfather to borrow from Chang. No reason for porn or prostitution.
Glen's character was cheated. He had a good idea in mixing porn and art, but i think you're right this manhwa reflects the author's view on the porn industry.
She could've done something amazing if she explored Mcqueen's vision, instead she gave us a subpar plot.

That's such a garbage ending -- people get depressed and worse when they enter the mindset where life is just a routine and there is nothing bigger than the every day or just having a relationship is all they need for happiness. Secondarily, the fact that Bruce Lee stood for so much for Asian Americans in America and how he was a beacon of hope for Asian people wanting to make it big in Hollywood and she has that symbolism of having Glenn throwaway the poster with Ed's dreams is really too heavy. I guess most people don't care because they don't want to see race or think Asians don't care, but as an Asian person I do care and that really broke my heart.
Also the xenophobic demonization of Chinatown was uncomfortable. Like she's from Korea but she's not Korean American and she doesn't know what it feels like to read a story about your home and have it be portrayed as this shitty place that just exploits people. :( still sad over it

My only problem with this story is her “cheat items” like so far in the story it’s been kind of fine but it would be way more fun to see her use her head to get out of messy situations than use magical items. Would have loved to see her figure out how to get into an fengs phone to delete all the photos instead of using a magical item. Things like that. I’m currently about to finish the vampire story and while it is good, that aspect still bothers me.

She didn't use a cheat when she was a ghost until the lost minute
