I really didn't like Ripley or the Duke much in the beginning, but they've really grown on me like oof. The whole wedding and ribbon chapter hit me right in the feels like wow I didn't originally think they were a good couple for each other but as we learn more about them and they go through character development the more I see that they support each other quite nicely.

Me tryna tell myself that I have to understand that she's naive and way too trusting for an actual really valid reason but at the same time getting really annoyed with her because oh man being a bystander to this definitely quickly approaching shit show is painful.
My annoyance however is even greater for the ML, like damn just tell her the man she met was an enemy of his and she should avoid him. Who cares if her feelings and/or confidence might be hurt for a while this is a matter of safety my man, unless you want her to get kidnapped or taken advantage. Like sure she can teleport or something out of the situation probably but like still would not be ideal.
i thought i was gonna hate killian's guts as the ML forever but like the narrative is literally against him and the MC, and the fact that the man's still falling in love with the MC and trying his best to treat her fairly despite it....it's hard to keep hating him. no denying he's still an absolute asshole at the moment, but he's slowly going against whatever force is on him from the author or whatever is controlling the story and i have to kudos him for it.
