i feel as though the main idea of the latest chapter and the convo between jinhyeong and songrik might’ve flown over some your heads a bit. especially since by the end, we can see jinhyeong thank songrik. by sharing his own story (and others circumstances), songrik was trying to uplift jinhyeong by letting him know he isn’t alone and that came across and got conveyed pretty well as we can see in jinhyeong’s response.
there was no cutting sentiment that jh’s trauma isn’t valid or was less valid because he had a roof. it was all about giving him some relief that he still has lanes that he has access to that many others don’t, so he can definitely pick up after this because for jh, it felt like the end of the world. he needed to hear that, especially because he’d never spoken up about this before so he’s never been reassured about these sorts of situations and he doesn’t even know of any other examples. i think sr brought him reassurance more than anything.
in other words, in risk of repeating myself to make this point: there was no hint of “your trauma is less valid because you had a roof.” it was more about giving jh perspective, that as hopeless as things feel now, he still has pathways forward that others might not. and when someone feels like their whole world is crumbling, that reminder that they still have options can be life saving. jh had never opened up about this before, so he’s never really had that kind of reassurance or seen examples of people getting through similar things. sr gave him that. i think he brought him comfort more than anything.
(i know the above paragraph and the one before sound nearly identical but they have different nuances so i shall present you with both, hoping one resonates)
i feel like deep down some of you see this too but you’re projecting your own trauma onto his experiences.
mayhaps, we just have different interpretations and that’s okay.
i will say though, i related to this chapter quite a bit and to any of you who felt the same, i hope you know your trauma is valid and i hope you heal <3

guys it’s only ch 13, we’re finding out about things alongside the mc. give him a break i’m sure we’ll get to see him in more detail soon. i actually really like him. for a guy who’s gone through so much and has only been recently discharged from the hospital after a HEART SURGERY, he’s doing pretty well. not to mention his lack of desire to live highlighted in the first few chapters, of course mf would be like “well this is what it is”, he was ready to die a couple of moments ago. he’s not going to be hard headed about escaping from the get go. nobody even said anything in the comments but these are my two cents

so yes, i got teary eyed reading the spoilers what do you mean, he loved mc and found comfort in the letters that she’d write back. he was in poor health as a child and many people would write to him and in return, he would write back pleasantly. during that time, he assigned a colour ink to people. vincent’s was gold. he knew vincent couldn’t read the letters but he’d still send them out for his own peace of mind so he knew it wasn’t vincent writing back. WHAT DO YOU MEAN he told ethan to give his eyes to vincent on his deathbed because he felt like it was his fault that he was blinded. WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE of ALL people dies??? he already had a frail constitution so couldn’t survive the assassination attempt. WHAT DO YOU MEAN vincent said in the novel that it was amazing how beautiful the world looked through lucas's eyes and the most beautiful part was paula since lucas would always say she was beautiful and now he was able to affirm that through HIS eyes. even when vincent (through no fault of his own) would and did think that alisha COULD be paula because of the description paula gave of her being a beauty and it took him time to find the answer. man, luca is just that guy fr. he liked mc, without caring about her appearance and was just so attentive without asking for anything back. there is some woeful poetic feel to the fact that though lucas is no longer with them, his eyes still reflect paula’s. but yeah, after all that selflessness, i wish he was given the chance to be an mc at least in his story, he freaking deserves it. it’s such a pity that he’s a second ml. HE’S ML MATERIAL, like he did the MOST??
