Gladys is Björn first wife. They married to politically strenghthen the alliance between their countries. It was practically an arranged marriage.

Gladys was the perfect crown princess. Prim and proper, really you kinda can't find any fault with her. Her hair is blond which fits with the family line and honestly the people love when hot people date hot people. And Gladys and Bjorn looked very well put together. Honestly the perfect match.

So here is where everything goes wrong.

Before marrying Bjorn, Gladys was in love with a poet, whose name I forgot. And they where well deeply in love with each other and did the devils tango.

Then the arranged marriage happend. Problem was that Gladys got pregnant by the poet and Bjorn and his close family found out once the doctor announced for how many weeks she has been pregnant.

To save face they made it appear so as if it was Bjorn first kid. But you can imagine the shock of finding out your wife who you haven't spent the night with is pregnant.

Bjorn and his family talked it over to Gladys royal family and they came to a conclusion that Gladys would go back, although I believe she left willingly. And that Bjorn would step down as a crown princess as to not have much power against the Gladys royal family, but I return he would monopolize all the banks in Gladys country and recive a good chunk of their armory. It seemed like a fair deal so that's what they did.

So the Bjorn divorced Gladys and got labeled and painted as a villain and a monster even though it wasn't his fault.

Gladys, well, she is 100% in the wrong but she was still trying to act as if it's fixable and well as if she didn't do anything that drastic. She went back, met with her beloved poet, but I guess she did fall in love with Bjorn at the end and kept reminiscing their short marriage together, filled with guilt, which then caused the poet to unalive himself, because he couldn't take her saying those things anymore. Shortly after her baby also died so yeah she was going through the trenches.

But that's part of the reason why Bjirn git labeld as heartless, which was because he didn't go to the funeral of his supposed kid, and honestly I don't even blame him.

Reason why Erna got such a hard time was because stepping into Gladys shadows is hard. Especially when you consider that Gladys was charismatic and the people's princess, so she had support everywhere.

So yeah that's the history between Bjorn and Gladys. Hope it helped! Feel free to correct me :)

Until now the ex "husband" was humiliated and the widow can't show her face anywhere. The ex husband keep trying to return the engagement with the MC but she just humiliate him lol
