The wife brought her lover, posing as his sister. The whole thing was suspicious as hell but she knew how to manipulate well, so they both took advantage of that weak man. She knew he would be an easy catch and I agree that he was a cunning, manipulative bastard who easily manipulated him and his weak nature. One big happy family!
