Agreed with everything except the last part. It your friend just up and disappeared, you wouldn't want to search for them? It's your best friend and all they send is a letter saying that they're okay and you have no way to communicate back. I'd want to at least see them in person to confirm with my own eyes that they're okay (granted I'd be more patient than her friends). But even then Ronia didn't share many of her feelings even with her closest friends so it's natural for them to worry. Chances are they don't know that her ideal life is a relaxed life

I mean they are looking for her because they are her friends. They can tell that she is sad and hurting from what she wrote to them in the letters. We don't see it a lot since she tries to hide it. We do see glimpses of it when she's sick of they ask who's the coolest. They can tell and they want to comfort her. I don't remember either of them saying they were trying to bring her back. They just want to be there for their friend. They can't even send her a letter in response so the only option is to look for her
