Plus he got free high privilege (become vip so he can sneak around seller information and cash back) also he got notify suspicious transition and such..
you can think of the weird red eye thing as a projector. it lets him see the said book and every screen like technology popping up without it actually being there.
I believe the color change happens when he levels up the marketplace. Level 0 is blue and level 1 is red and the other levels might be other colors
