Em, sorry for butting in. In my opinion, a step mother won't ever be a mother for you. Either it blood-related or not. The impression might be similar, but they'd never be your mother (speaking of biologically & mentally image). Even if she was a reincarnation of your mother, the body wasn't.
Ah, I'm sorry if this sounds like I'm being nosy. I don't know how it really feels to have a step dad or mom (mine's still together although they sometimes had a ridiculously stupid big-fight [my dad started it]). What I do know that you may just not treat them as your real's (this topic is actually quite sad and troublesome in somd way), but still, respect (even the smallest) them as someone who cares for you even without being blood-related to you (anyway, if they did something bad, it's appropriate to correct them without lessening your small-respect towards them)
