Sacrificing someone but wishing for them to live is very common in stories. Usually cases like this have other options like faking Scarlet death using other methods. For example they can use body double, or poison that temporarily make Scarlet dead. This has been used in similar stories before. But this depends if Scarlet will willing to hide her identity forever, but she's the type of person who fight head on after all ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
Back then there's a conflict between human & demons. Ragibach (now Cosette) plan to launch a war on human race cuz she believes that is demon's true nature. However, Erez think this is nonsense and demons are no longer like that. For Azai, he is neutral side and propose a deal to Ragibach. If the goddess won't interfere, then they will proceed with Ragibach idea but if not, she have to halt it.
Based from prev chapters, Ragibach probably still proceed the war w/o investigating first (like what Azai told her). So, she lost in the end and the demon realm suffer from Goddess punishment. Now, Ragibach want to revenge so she possessed Cosette's body cuz her family is associated with the goddess. In the past timeline, Cosette seems succeed on destroying the spirit stone and release the demons in human realm.
In short, this is not your time regression revenge story but more like a fantasy. No wonder there's no romance in the novel.
That white haired woman demon is Cosette. The real Cosette died as fetus and what we have now is just a demon who imitates her. So, yeah we are seeing her backstory.
When I start reading this manhwa I was intrigued on the part (prologue) where Leticia discover Mikael's secret and I thought that the story will focus on that. However most of the content of this story is about their past, so there are only few chapters (finale) that connects in the prologue. I thought it will be a dramatic story where the FL & ML have conflict (base from prologue) bit instead it was just a plain love story.
There's are tons of manhwa who have MC's killed from their prev lives then end up with their killer in next life. Usually their hatred was only highlighted in the beginning of the stories and the plot will move on. What I like in this is manhwa is, Lariette hated Rupert till they grew up (most similar stories just hate their killer in a year or less). She hates him down to the bone (until the reveal). Even after knowing the truth she doesn't forgive him that easily, (many ppl hates this part) but the story emphasis TRAUMA where you MC doesn't turn 180° and fall in-love with the ML.
As for Rupert, his character and backstory is written well. The only flaw is, they made the other male characters as scumbag to make him in a good light. Until now, I hate how the author turn Lehan (the brother) to be the 2nd ML, what's worse as an obsessive person.
I agree. I also like how in this story, the trope of having the mc end up with her killer in her past life is almost more palatable for the audience in some weird way. Like, rupert wasnt connected to her in any meaningful way at all in the past so there was no emotional or meaningful relationship between them to even begin with. So there wasnt anything that would cause a betrayal for her. Unlike other stories where its their fiance that kills them like that one story with the blue haired prince, the silver haired mc, and the obsessive green haired dude. I just couldnt finish that one due to the absurdity that she would end up with her killer.
I agree for the most part, but I really don't think of Lehan as the 2nd ML. There really isn't one. Lari has never viewed Lehan as anything but a brother, so if I had to categorise him, he'd be more of a villain. Part of it is he's been brought up by his father I guess, but the point is even now he's trying to manipulate Lari into accepting him romantically regardless of what she's said she wants.
I hate how they end the dad misdeeds. He should suffer much more and they should give a chance for Laliette to shout out her complaints.
I want to see Sir Scarliche (blonde dude) confess to Nanael. Cuz if he received rejection, that will be the end of this love triangle.
Honestly the story is nice if this is a Yuri. Ruby × Kana relationship are quite nice, especially after they open up to their feelings. Akane × Kana dynamic is quite good too.
So the bitch saintess Evalina and jerk prince George are actually siblings . Then these two siblings are tasked to seduce both FL & ML to prevent them from having a kid, who apparently destined to become pope.
