I love how this story balance between male and female characters. Usually in isekai stories, the "party member" characters are female to add up with the MC's harem. But this story, introduce quite male characters even if they didn't become Astaroth's party.
I wouldn't say it's balanced...
So, what exactly happened in recent chapters?
Eva (Rupert mom) created Tori through alchemy. She link Tori's life with Rupert. So if Rupert dies, so does Tori. Eva's goal is to destroy the empire, and she want Rupert to be the one who did that. Tori is assigned to monitor him.
However, Rupert fell in-love with Lari, and give up his mom's goal. So Tori hated this idea and wanted to get rid Lari. Tori thinks that her life is unfair that why she's the one who suffer with bloody hands and cannot grow. So, she attempt to kill Rupert to end her life.
Oh this summarize it. thanks. But in the past life didn't Rupert killed her? Why is he still alive? Also what did tori mean when she said she wasn't able to cry for her mother's death? I thought she isn't human? I don't mind the spoilers. :)
I think the death only goes one way. If Rupert dies, tori dies, but if tori dies, Rupert is fine.
That is also mentioned in this very same chapter. Rupert told Tori that she wouldn't like to harm her. Which means Tori could die if she was killed by Rupert.

I just find this story quite similar to Kill the Villainess. Eris (MC) main goal is to return to her world & cutting all ties in the story book world. She also fell in love to someone which make her hesitate to leave him.
Ash goal started similar to her but unlike Eris, throughout the story Ash doubt her identity and true wish. If she really truly belong to the book world or if she want to go back.
It's quite ironic on how other worlders goal get swayed when they fell in love. ╮(￣▽￣)╭
This is just my opinion but the grandpa deserves his death. He first create false accusation against the prev wife just to kick her out & be replaced by his daughter (Keira mom). Not only that, but he also ordered to assassinated her while she was still pregnant.
I was just a bit skeptical on the Count's death (Cossette uncle) cuz he was just used by the demon Cosette. But he still done bad things for revenge.
The queen will die at the end.
