The person is usually not in the right frame of mind to reflect on their actions, it was a crime of passion. It's terrible that the mc ever got to that point where she felt like it was the only way. And I mean really think about it, the protagonist/'heroine' is always portrayed as a almost mary-sue like klutz who wins everyone's hearts or is just too pure-hearted. It always irked me because it felt like this person is a paragon and anyone who went against them was cast as evil. The story writers try to make all the villains 'just evil' when it's so complicated. It's why I don't read conventional stories. The west, US especially, has a problem with this plot in YA novels. Ugh#－.－)
