I saw the comments about how bad it was and since nothing like Paedophilia, incest etc was mentioned, i thought let me see what they're talking about. Firstly, the story development is horrible, the characters are equally awful and the ending is, you guessed it, terrible. The main character lets call him 'Mister', is introduced as his wife tells him she's taking their daughter abroad to study. When he rightfully argues about being left alone, she rebuffs his concerns by saying he is a grown man who doesnt need looking after. Ive never understood this concept that ive seen or heard a lot about in korean culture, where a man/husband's wife and kids are living abroad to get better education or whatever, while the husband stays behind and works long hours to pay for said school fees and living expenses, for both himself and the rest of the family abroad. Usually living on combi meals and in shitty housing. Anyway, back to the story. They go off and he is left by himself. He runs into a young girl (20) at a food place, who reminds him of his first love, who is revealed to have been sort of a bitch(only dating him for revenge) and also sleeping with professors/other people etc to get good grades and opportunities, then lying and saying theg r*ped her. Its revealed the girl lives in his buliding, they have a few inappropriate encounters and its revealed that her mum is in fact the first love. The mum IMMEDIATELY gets way too familiar with Mister, when suddenly, Mister gets a call telling him that his wife and daughter have died in an accident overseas( HOW CONVENIENT). Mister is rightfully depressed for a few weeks and on the pretence of feeding him, the Mum inappropriately initiates sex with him and even goes on to suggest they get back together "like old times". She falls asleep peacefully, on his depressed lap and her daughter comes knocking, looking for her. Mister lies that the mum isnt there and accepts the daughters invitation to go upstairs so she can look after him and feed him. He eats and she falls asleep on the couch next to him and he starts to have thoughts of instances where he didnt do what he wanted and regretted it. So he looks at her, touches her p*ssy, removing her underwear and after an actual moment of clarity, says fuck it and literally plunges into her. She screams, he pulls out and runs when she questions his bullshit. The mum tries once more to fuck him when he gets downstairs but is rejected and goes upstairs to tell her daughter that shes thinking of marrying "her friend downstairs ". Daughter says no and eventually gets the uncle to promise not to marry the mum, as a way of apology for forcibly taking her virginity. Anyway a few things happen, and they do infact move in together during which, the mum travels abroad on several occasions and things get sexual between the daughter and Mister, though no penetration takes place. Then one day, even though he is still having sex with the mum while also having relations with the daughter, they finally decide to have penetrative sex. One day Mister and the daughter decide to go have lunch and she tells him to shave his stubble, which ends up makes him look just like her dad and she cancels their lunch to runs out to meet her dad. Her dad, as she mentioned during her first encounter with Mister, looks exactly like mister, only difference is his sideburns. Her dad is a struggling artist and through so bullshit thinking, she offers to pose NUDE for him. He, clearly having some sense, says fuck no thats inappropriate. But somehow this still happens with Mister's influence and her wearing a barely there mask. It gets worse, during this "incognito" session with her dad, she literally poses in explicit ways. Vagina wide open and exposed, EVERYTHING. And the dad, still (idiotically) having "no idea" that its his daughter, tells his "model" that all that extra exposure is not needed and asks her repeatedly to just pose normally. This, crazy enough, pisses off the daughter and she leaves. He later finds out it was her and proceeds to draw her nude again once the first painting sells for millions. Their relation is revealed to the public after the second paintings sells for even more but by then he is too rich to care and spends his money on a new house, host bars (where he r*pes one of the girls attending to him). Moving on, the mum finds out and berates both mister and the daughter, who gets angry at the mum too, because "its just art". Anyway, mister still sleeping with the daughter and mum, starts to having memory problems, having episodes he acts out of character and calls the daughter by the mum's name, "Sunny". So he goes to the doctor and finds out he has early onset Alzheimer's. Life goes on, things gets worse. The mum continues to leave the house to party, the daughter has a classmate who fancies her and who she takes to a hotel to sleep with after Mister goes missing. Mister is travelling cross country painting (oh yeah he was an art student in University and thats how he met the mum, but got kicked out after he assaulted a professor, who the mum told him had r*ped her, when in fact she willing went to his house of her own accord and sucked his dick/fucked him for favours), he was a promising student and can actually paint really well. Oh and the daughter modelled nude for her dad, after asking mister to paint her first. Back to his cross country travels, during which he has memory loss moments, he fucks a call girl during this. The daughter finds him after seeing a new report about a travelling artist and goes to meet him. At this point his memory is terrible and he cant even remember his bank pin. She pays for his meal and they have sex in his caravan, even though he doesn't remember her. She goes back home and he sleeps with some lady he meets at the beach who asks him to draw her, she stays with him for awhile but is never seen or mentioned again. He starts waiting for the girl (daughter) to return and after a while she does, but this time he only remembers her as "Sunny"(the mum) and asks her never to leave and to marry him. They figure out his bank pin, they buy a house and live for a while, as his memories get worse. He calls her a bitch and acts standoff-ish, as it seems he remembers "Sunny's" lies, asking her why shes there. She decides to go back to Seoul for a visit and while shes gone he goes to Busan and reminisces about his childhood and teenage years there. When he gets back, shes there and he says he wants to spend the rest of his short remaining days in busan, as he knows he doesnt have long left. They move there and he asks her for a baby as he wants to leave a piece of him behind. 14 years later(surprising cos im pretty sure he made it seem like he had a few weeks to 6 months to live), he is now living in America with his white wife along with his and "Sunny's" 13 year old daughter. He has sex with his wife, and dies not long after the sex. They mourn and the white wife, reveals to the child that the dad wanted his ashes scatter in his birth country, Korean, in the river at his hometown and that her mum, "Sunny" is alive. Back in Busan, "Sunny", is married to her classmate that fancied her, still living in the house she shared with Mister in busan. Theres a knock at the door, its the white wife who announces shes has to give her something Mister wanted her to have, the ashes. They sit and the white wife reveals that the child shes with is the "Sunny's" child with Mister and the child says "Hi Mom"... they go on a boat and scatter his ashes, all three say their goodbyes. At the airport, the child reveals that she wants to stay with her biological mum and does. Next scene, which is thankfully the last, "Sunny" and child are standing on the balcony and the child asks "Sunny" if she loved Mister. The story ends with a faint image of Mister in the sky and "Sunny" answers, "Did i love him?"
The character development was realistic and not rushed. I thought I wouldn't like Yang Yang and Kang Dol, during the first few chapters but they both gradually became better as the story progresses. Kang Dol x Dosim is so sweet and the fact that they both try to practice clear communication in their relationship, makes the story even better!! Yang Yang x Lee Hoon, I totally shippppppp! And the messages in this webtoon, especially the one about 'learning to love yourself before trying to change to please others', that really struck me! Great read and 100% Recommend reading.
I've read this author's other stories: ANTI P.T. And False Memories, did not like them. Honestly, they should just stick to writing Shoujo, cos they clearly have a weird need to make the characters in their BLs, toxic
I don't know why I expected something different from the author of ANTI P.T. But if you did liked that one, then you'll like this too. Filled with bullshit outcomes, bullshit character development, if you can even call it that. MC is timid, dangerously naïve in his desperation to cling to a friend, who has shown him their worst side and then becomes even less likeable (in my opinion), when he chooses to lie to the amnesiac bully. No worthy consequences are given to the antagonists of this story, mainly the "Hyung" and purpled haired minion.
Spoiler(not really but kind) alert!! below i go in deeper on just how bullshit the story and its characters are.
For me, the whole thing is detestable. Every character is essentially shit. Starting with the MC, maybe it's because I'm not a fan of weakling, naïve characters, but that's literally all he was. I get that he was bullied because of his facial expression etc, but honestly, why not take a proactive stance and try to actually get good at fighting or whatever. No character development from him, he chose to lie to someone with Amnesia because he liked them better "nice", which is just wrong. And the fact that he kept crying over the ML being hot and cold, when this guy was clearly showing him just how much of dick he is, was super annoying. I feel like the ML could have hit him with a bat and the MC would still try to "understand" him, with some bullshit "he's my friend" mentality. Onto the ML, I'll cut him some slack because it seems like his bully persona was probably brought on by that fucked up "Hyung". And it's said that he had to go through all of that and no one helped him blah blah blah(〜 ̄△ ̄)〜. But still he was an Asshole and sort of deserved that knock to the head. Now the purpled haired guy, I've never understood people like that. It's disgusting that he literally went out of his way to be a bitch and put the ML (and MC ) in harms way. What the actual fuck. And to end it with the ML asking to be friends? The fuck. He clearly has the potential to be a stalker or much worse. Setting people up just because "he doesn't love me anymore"??? There's nothing that can excuse that sort of behaviour. Now the brother... lord that is a fucking mess of a person and he should have gotten jail time for that bullshit or even death. The guy is clearly deranged and that smirk at the end, when he got caught, just proves that if given the chance he would do it all over again. I mean is the Dad okay in the head? You're literally sending a known psychopath to a foreign country with a clean slate, to do the same shit to other people??? Lastly the secretary... lord, a grown woman, who could have stopped all of it before it even escalated. The apology means Jack shit. "I don't want you to get hurt anymore"?? What kind of bullshit is that! What gets to me is that she had the means to contact the Dad and let me know what was happening( WITH FUCKING PROOF), a long fucking time ago. But chose not to... because of her job? Like who would fire you??
The whole story is bullshit and what's scary is that this kind of trope is a reality in Japanese and Korean culture. The actions of; stalkers, abusive family members, shitty friends, bullies.etc, are swept under the rug and not holding people accountable, is a norm especially if the perpetrator is rich or influential. Either done to save face or just to just plain rely on karma to get them back. Everyone in this story clearly suffers from mental health issues and none of this equates to a happy ending .
Unfortunately you are right about the saving face thing. The father’s first thought were most likely that if what happened got out it might damage the company, so rather than actually punishing his son’s rapist and abuser he chose to keep it hidden which is fucked up. If i had been the mc’s I wouldn’t stand for that and perhaps bring evidence to the police. So rather than sending the person who raped and abused his son for years just gives him a fucking job somewhere else, that bastard who would stop him from coming back for revenge?
I can't follow the storyline, who did she kill? Who is looking for her? Why was she hiring the assassin? Why is Duke Ergy or whatever, helping her?
Rashta killed her friend that was a slave with her and HELPED her escape. He actual bio father who is responsible for her enslavement is looking for her.im pretty sure she hired a assassin because the trash emperor did the right thing and revoked her ability to punish criminals cause she was abusing the power. It implied by the story and Heinry that Duke Ergy is using Rashta for revenge and getting her to legally sign over property and land to him. That's why he helped Rashta become empress because Navier would be able to stop him and protect her empire.
Thank you so much (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
I don't know why but i'm having trouble keeping track of her story, i started it again and that still didn't help( ̄∇ ̄"). Kept feeling like we skipped afew chapters. I didn't remember the slave that "went missing", kept asking myself when did that happen LOL! Okayyyyyy that's why the duke us helping her, makes sense now.
I like that it wasn't heavy on the smut and that the BL was more of a subplot. The uke was head strong, and his personality/entire raison d'etre wasn't all about Woon, which was really refreshing. Can't stand weak, fickle ukes. So yeah, any recommendations on stories that progress like this (not necessarily about monster, only read this cos the monsters weren't scary or disgusting creatures), Shounen Ai with good plot and story flow is what i'm looking for.
I would have been so pissed if the bestfriend died. Honestly would pick him living over Woon, obviously not in the romantic sense, because I don't ship(or felt the need to) MC w/ his bestfriend but i loved their connection.
