I like that the narrative doesn't villainize the other girl who is a commoner, but it doesn't sit right with me that this powerful FL forgives and chooses the weak-ass, pathetic, unfaithful Prince who suddenly has a change of heart.....
I felt the same frustration with the Villainess Story:

Don't blame the soldier that was influenced to kill. Blame the higher ups that instigated the war.
I reckon the other Ediths understood this well; they understood that the main characters were controlled by the author/story.
As for Cliff, I dont think the Ediths truly hated him. I'd say they just let him follow through with his obsession for the author, and let him see the author's true colours/nature.
