my take on the ending is that hiro asks mio if she’s healthy to see if shiro is abusing his gf too the way shiro did w him. i think he did that to find out if shiro is actually in love w mio? bc i think hiro thinks thy when shiro reallyyyyy loves someone he’ll hurt them (?)
but overall i think their relationship is j super toxic but it’s also their forms of love (but it’s still fucked up!? shiro probably having internalized homophobia towards himself bc he doesn’t understand his feelings. the way he acts against hiro who is clearly in love w him is his way of suppressing those feelings & denying them. denying hiro. hiro taking the hits and viewing it as a very extreme and toxic form of love bc he knows that he attracts danger and gets hurt easily but he accepts it so easily bc shiro was always the one protecting him.
idk the story is so weird and so dark but the dynamics between the characters are so complex

sucks bc this situation is a narcissist family dynamic where both the parents (or one) are the narcissist (and the other being an enabler/codependent) and so the demands/hopes/dreams of the narcissist(s) gets passed down to the golden child (in this case heejoo). this causes an overwhelming amount of pressure on the golden child and sometimes if they don’t meet up to those expectations, the blame gets thrown onto the scapegoat/black sheep.
for yuri he becomes the scapegoat to his older the black sheep of the family - both being neglected by their own parents who only see the golden child. in this case, yuri’s older sister blames all the problems that occurs to her on yuri forcing him to bear all the burdens/“wrong doing” of the family. his older sister in this case is seen as the black sheep do to the fact that she curses more/lacks any form of empathy & sympathy. she’s either constantly compared to the golden child (heejoo) or compares herself to the golden child.
also it’s good to keep in mind that in the narcissist family these people could have more than one role. personally i feel like yuri isn’t only the scapegoat but the black sheep (but that’s bc my personal opinion)
