Yeah. The fact that he tried to rape her and she got blamed for it, and that it never got resolved just pisses me off. I am also WAY over the whole "Parents/Grandparents act like asshats and are abusive or neglectful until suddenly grandchildren/great-grandchildren come into the picture and suddenly they act all warm and welcoming and everyone acts like they never did anything horrible to begin with," trope. It is disgusting. Although there MAY be SOME rare exceptions, l when people act like that, the birth of a kid is usually NOT enough for their twisted and sick personalities to do a 180 like that.
I completely agree! There are just so many issues with this story and how it handles these themes. I just really can't get over how nothing was truly dealt with in any capacity. It went below my standards...even for a harlequin..disappointing, disheartening, and anger-inducing.
