It's not. He's alone out in the wilderness. He's bored. Try being alone completely for at least a month. That's how long he's been without any companionship. And by companionshio, I don't mean his horse and the bunch of sheep's who can't make conversations with him. He feels an attraction to him sure. But it would just be pure loneliness if anything. But devotion doesn't mean it has to be attachment via sex. If he's developed that much emotional investment and having to choose to leave someone he's grown so attached to ....
