I agree, and it's beautiful to see their chemistry in the battlefield and their shared interest in swordsmanship. I feel like their chemistry was subtle, and I like that because I felt like it allowed them to build the relationship. I do think the confessions on both of their parts might have been a little rushed, but I think their chemistry is definitely there and not only in a romantic sense.

thats common hairstyle in kpop industry whether you want to interpret it as appreciation or appropiation its up to you but sometimes its not that deep bcs they just see it as 'hiphop' hairstyle.

i think it is deep when the people (including me) who wear it are faced with discrimination bc of it while others are praised. just bc something is common doesn’t make it right. regardless i’ve said what i wanted to say and nothing y’all say will ever make me change my stance. have a nice day

Isn't that the more reason why people who are not black can wear locs? If black people got hated so much when wearing locs, then more people should appreciate it and wear it if they want to so it can be normalized and people won't think this is bad anymore.

I mean, non-black people that wear locs usually love hiphop and black culture, that's why they wear it as a form of appreciation. Even most of k-hiphop artist wear it because they like the culture. So I don't think this is bad?

Sure, you can use "appreciation" as an excuse, but its so balantly obvious that a lot of (mainland) asians truly don't care much for black people. Sure they like their culture, but do they actually have respect for them other than just ""hip hop."" Colorism and racism is still a huge problem in asia and theres no denying it.

I'm all for cultural appreciation as long as there is consent from the other side willing to share, but thats not even the case here. Dreadlocks, with the association of drugs and illegal work? Clearly its not being associated in a good light, of course its going to be seen as problematic, anyone can see that. I can like something from another culture, and wear a piece of clothing, and call it appreciation, but that doesn't excuse anyone from critism of them being ignorant of the history of said cultural hairstyle, or clothing, etc.

I understand your point, but its not as easy of just "letting other people appreciate other cultures' when the like in question is very shallow. I've seen nigeran braiders do braids for foreigners plenty of times because they went out of their time to visit and learn the culture, and they wish to share it, thats fine, its their decision. But the difference between this appreciation, and "appreciation" in the kpop industry is that, their appreciation of black culture is just black stereostypes. That isnt appreciation, thats just pushing a certain viewpoint onto black people even further.

Of course there are some kpop groups who've incorporate cultural appreciation into their music, like adding afrobeats, amapiano, jersey remixes etc... and wonderfully done at that.

... point is, if you are going to appreciate something, atleast do it with all your heart. Not shallow level of appreciation, thats like if I said i liked Brazilian culture but only wore messi and soccer jerseys, its not an accurate depiction of said culture. Sure some might appreciate it, but a lot will see it as distasteful.

I know your comment probably came from a light hearted place, but racism and issues of cultural appropriation are more complex and should be treated as such to avoid situations... like this.

I completely agree T_T it just left a bad taste in my mouth and I feel like there was better ways to show an "american influence" or someone going down a bad path.... very obvious theres a stereotype being pushed here but "who cares" as someone said...lol .. maybe im that friend whose too woke ig, didn't know finding appropriation and the added correlation of drugs and crime was all the sudden was weird all the sudden
