I believe he's still alive. Because he's soul is still intact and not crushed or eaten. I think iris took his soul so that seolwoo can never leave him just like how Mariam took bokhee's soul as an assurance to never leave him cuz he said that if he does he will crush his soul and bokhee will die.
In other words they love their partner that much that they will kill them if they ever leave.
We can see 2 sides to this love: 1.desperation and obsession to keep their partner (seolwoo & iris)
2.love and assurance (bokhee & mariam)

Through out reading this I had an internal conflict and discussion with myself if the female characters were actually females or pretty looking males....

I loved this volume. started out so wtf and ended up fn unbearably cute. omg! this is one of those pairs that gets better with time...a real life evolution kinda thing (although also kinda hardcore...)
