I'm glad that they each got to have their own happy endings in the end. although I admit, aoi and ichirou's bond left me with a bittersweet longing for an alternate ending—one where they ended up together, defying destiny despite the odds against them...
read this manga for the first time three years ago, and it hit me with so many beautiful emotions. picked it up again today, and honestly, it feels like I’m experiencing it for the first time all over again. crazy how some stories never lose their magic, no matter how much time passes. such is destiny.

It's subtle, but the love between Mii and Aoi is a little different than the love they have for their partners. I think it had more to do with being each others' comfort and helping each other grow. Their love for their partners is a mature kind of love, when they were both healed enough and strong enough to aim for what they desire.
Mii in particular, he was ready to take Aoi away, but he fought Yuu (head butler) over and over again before being okay with "ruining his life" (his words). The reality was that he was simply too afraid.
There are different kinds of love (like everything, it's a spectrum), and I am glad the author touched on it.
if you guys really want to appreciate the story, I highly recommend reading the novel. it's quite easy to read, and offers more details and emotions, adding depth to the scenes. the manhwa, for me, would be best for quick rereading and/or visualizing the scenarios and characters.
(the plaza "terror" incident felt so underwhelming, honestly. that was the first time Cale showcased his shield, yk (it's the one scene that made me really hooked to this story). the lack of details made his colleagues' worries feel out of place TT. maybe they just wanna make it a light read without much gore and deaths, but ಥ╭╮ಥ . I can't explain it, it's like something crucial is missing...)
but maybe they've improved the story telling in the later chapters—I’m currently at ch64, so I can’t say for sure yet.
(or maybe... I just really wanted to see Cale suffering/coughing blood?)
I just thought that time skip extra chapters would've been more fitting, if not a second volume. cuz considering they aren't even 18 yet, seeing them together after 20 or more years will make for a fulfilling conclusion. well, I guess it's up to us huh ╮(＾▽＾)╭
they kept him in the dark, then blame him when things turn for the worse. what kinda fvkced up thinking was that. you wanted him him to help your friend, yet all you ever said was "go have sex with him, and hurry up." I'd go bald from pulling my hair at this rate. I'm ssoooo pissed off.
