I hold grudges, so at the very beginning, I never liked any of the characters except for Ellie. I could cry for Anastasia, but yes, I'm conflicted due to her violence. HOWEVERRRRR what irritates me most is that fucking butler. He could cross the line and "preach" whatever bullshits he wants like a bitch. So as the elder and like the person who stood as that mfker's guardian, his lack of morality and fucking greed and ego led that mfker astray even further. Anastasia's situation was so obvious. How could they take out whatever stupidity they have on a 16-yr old orphaned girl? He kept egging him on, only speaks out when it's about anything negative about Anastasia, and has serious superiority issues.
If he at least had some humanity in him, he could make Anastasia feel loathed without stooping so fucking low. What a load of bull. I won't even consider using his loyalty to wipe my ass. AND THE GURL IS ALREADY LIVING WELL. LEAVE HER THE FUCK ALONE. GHAD!

ML is helping her escape and go home but some.people and I think different tribes are getting in their way. Huhu I don't remember much anymore.
I keep rereading and dropping this. It's good plot-wise, but I can't get past the scenes with her family. And that's a whole lot of scenes at the beginning. I'm just so disgusted and upset. They suffocate me so much, especially when they're shown acting concerned. That was years of abuse. I can't stop thinking about how the real Penelope suffered, how alone she must have felt. Without amends, apologies, or receiving love, she's just gone.
It's actually rare for me to get emotional over stories. I usually just take them as is. But this... She can go find happiness and peace of mind, she deserves that life. However, I don't want to see her getting along or acting "family" with the Eckhart. Civilized or "they know each other" relationships are fine. I know what happens through the novel, so this is probably my last time rereading this. I can't anymore. I could only reread up to Chapter 38. I'm seething with anger, disappointment, and just so many negative emotions in general.

Those who are reading this who are weirded out either haven't read much Chinese BL or are just clueless about Chinese tropes. With how much BL “raising your partner” stories I've read, I don't get surprised anymore. This manhua could be platonic or turn romantic, I will still think it's wholesome as long as the author delivers the story well.
I do wonder why there are so much physical and sexual abuse, violence, pedophilia, etc. in Chinese stories when they have such a heavy censorship.
