IT feels like the whole thing so far has just been 8 chapters of info dumping exposition
Since it's just explaining everything and nothing much is really going on, there's no emotional impact to anything. There's no weight to any of their thoughts or emotions because they immediately resolve and talk about everything so nonchalantly like it's no big deal.
It's cute and interesting but there's no real hook that's keeping me from getting bored.

But I think a better upload system would be to upload a new chapter on top of their already existing placeholder (e.g. so you have both a ch.89 and a ch.89: PH) then go in and rename and change the position of the placeholder (e.g. rename ch.89: PH to ch.92: PH and move it to just after the placeholder for 91)
This way, the placeholders will always be greyed-out and marked as "already read" but the new, actual chapter will still be white, "unread", making it more clear to readers there is a new chapter that was uploaded, not just more placeholders.
As it is now, since I went through the placeholders, all the placeholders are marked as "already read", so when the uploader goes in and fills the placeholder with the actual chapter, it's still marked as "read" on my end, even though the new chapter was just posted. Based on the frequent confusion in the comment section, I believe other readers experience this too (tho I could be wrong).
