That scene never actually happened in the novel. But i think basically they where saying the mc was over run with esper powers he absorbed and needed another esper to remove them. Although anything i’ve seen with that normally it just means the guide can’t be around another esper at all or needs another guide to help take away some of the excese toxic esper energy
