I really love this manga as I've been reading it for over 2 years, the art is wonderful and so are the characters that are often cliche but still refreshing. I love how there isn't any true antagonist except for the shitty ass Dad who was a two-faced asshole. Also my guess is that Saeki is older than Aone from his reaction lol

Art also kills Lucas and destroys his balls bc Lucas had kidnapped Tess and almost raped her (i think defiled was the word used tho, her clothes were ripped and she was unconscious).
Also the other continent....filled with a bunch of peeps like Slyvie tho they EXTRA BAD and yeah honestly this story will GO DOWN HILLLLLLLL if they continue to follow the light novel to the exact and i really hope they somewhat change certain things like Art only agreeing to be with Tess when she turned eighteen. Art is currently 17 in the novel btw so yeah apparently man waited for her to be legal....I- honestly no words. Yaguchi as a character is actually quite plain and we see him struggle exactly because of that...
I'm no art student so I don't know how it feels to create art to be per say be "graded".
But I knew since I was young that art was subjective but even if it was subjective people had to have standards in creating art. People have limits that they cannot cross no matter how hard they try, that's purely human nature.
I know this fact too well, you try so hard yet you don't feel yourself improve even after months and years of doing something, you are still somewhat in the middle of average and excellent, never really moving forward because everyone you see is moving in faster phases than you are but you're still grateful that you are able to improve yet you still continue to compare yourself with everyone, better or worse than you. You constantly compare and compare to the point that it eats out your very soul and makes you feel weak and worthless.
I know how it feels to try so hard at something and see improvements but still feeling that it isn't good enough or that feeling that "mine is bad because someone else has done better than me". Sometimes being competitive is good but most of the time, it hurts to see yourself not good enough to even compare to someone else.
Yaguchi, he's plain and I think most people are like him. I think I'm like him to be honest, not in the pursuing art perspective though (I personally am a writer and am taking a communications course). I see myself in Yaguchi because in all honesty, his character is the most realistic I've seen in any manga (this is really a huge deal to me because i've read like 600+ mangas for sure).
His character is plain but complex. We see him try hard continously but even so, I noticed he doesn't really have an art style, something to make people recognize his works but I know he's still young (we're the same age I think and I honestly don't have a writing style as well).
But what I really want to focus on right now is this chapter.
I felt everything Yaguchi was feeling, every single panel of him during the introduction, and not just his introduction but his reaction to his fellow classmates'. I felt the weight of each student coming to introduce themself in this very individualistic and "me" way that Yaguchi (and even myself) find so outwordly.
We (me and Yaguchi) are plain people. We followed our vices till we finally found something we are passionate about and we start to feel like it makes up our entire existence because we finally feel something, like a purpose but we realize..."who were we really before we found out we liked 'this' (what we are passionate about)".
Seeing people that speak and think so like themselves, people who have found themselves and know how to express themselves in a way that is unique to them. I think Yaguchi finds it difficult to the same because he doesn't really understand who he is just yet, he knows what he should be at least, but he doesn't really know how he'll get there.
So seeing those "people" introduce himself he feels even more lost on how he should introduce himself in a way that would compare or match to them. Then when he finally does, he feels pressured to match their phase but it was all for nothing because he didn't leave much impact on the professors that were present and instead got told off in a round about way (educators just have such a wonderful way to fuck you up with a few words that shouldn't really sound harsh out of context but do because you can read between the lines and you feel like shit about it (⌒▽⌒)/).
Yaguchi then feels like shit after that and it happened in a span of five minutes, his mind probably couldn't comprehend the shame and pain he felt because it happened so damn fast. It felt like a gun shot to him. (I don't want to just slap the word around but I do believe that Yaguchi may have anxiety like this man cannot be mentally stable but like seriously though what art student is mentally stable, name me one artist who was!)
The three panels of him near the end of the chapter hit me so hard in the heart. We see how he had to fake his smile to his professor, we see that fake smile of his and it hurts us because we know we have had to make that same expression for people not to feel like we are a burden or that we are weak and it hurt so much...
In those three panels we see him crumple up as if he used his last bits of energy to fake that smile. Then we see him cry, those short words from his professors had made him cry and I knew that feeling so well that it has made actually cry as I was reading it. I had to stop reading for a couple of minutes because I related to his situation so well that it brought me back to what had happened to me in the past.
IT DOES NOT FEEL GOOD AT ALL.
Yaguchi is a complex character because we see his emotions but we also see him hide them and I think that's what so good about reading about his experiences. Seeing him fail and succeed feels like the things we have been through or are going through, we feel connected to him as a character because he has this strong drive and we too want that drive, so we find ourselves liking him as a character as we associate his passion with ours.
The way he expresses his emotions and then feeling all gushy and soft when he realizes people around him realize he has actually improved. It's all too realistic to me because we get so encouraged by other people's word but we also get easily discouraged by other people's words as well and that's the underside of being praised because you start to realize that it's only people's good will.

So i read the comment of someone reading the raws and telling us that Taehwan isn't a toxic top, probably just not super into Yeonwo as Yeonwo to him because AIGHT IMMA BE HONEST I JUST THINK YEONWO IS STILL JUST HORNY FOR TAEHWAN not in love IN LOVE with him and in yaois most would assume LUST and LOVE would be the same but NAH NAH NAH. THAT IS TWO DIFFERENT THINGS MY DUDES.
I've been theorizing (i havent read raws but i am a considerate thinker) and having thoughts that the second season gave me BJ Alex vibes but without the "toxic asshole only in for the sex kinda" relationship. I think these two, are just still cold towards each other and have a physical relationship with the goal of just satisfying each others libido type of thing, just at the beginning of course.
But my main point and theory is that Taehwan will slowly find himself becoming fond of Yeonwo and then Yeonwo will slowly fall out of admiration with Taehwan and that's when the fun starts. Or the other possibility that I just don't know and their relationship will just turn wholesome towards the end of the season. WHICH is most likely to happen knowing the author's taste and preferences in her stories. Usually stories have a pattern of if the first is wholesome then the second season is bound to be wholesome by the end as well. And the author doesn't also write extremely toxic semes either, if they did it would have shown in their other works but it didn't so pls don't trash talk Taehwan and then call him hot as fck despite it, it makes me really concerned for the standards of most people...
Anyway, I think they'll fall in love eventually and waiting to see that is the best part of the story. I think Taehwan will be sweet and kind and wholesome by the end of the season purely bc i don't believe he has the qualities of being a total douchebag because he's so sweet to his younger brother and nice to Dojin despite Dojin being far away from the usual people he hangs out with. No EVIL and TOXIC person would do these things, you treat people differently if you aren't close to them, the closer you get to a person the warmer and understanding you tend to feel (both in a platonic and romantic or any other way). I think Yeowoo too would be more loyal and satisfied with Taehwan by his side.
