just starting to read this and there are already so many intense scenes but my mind is doing some mental gymnastics trying to understand wtf is going on bc of the bad translations. what a pity
i’ve always wondered doesn’t claude have any hidden trump card to protect himself and his daughter from anything bad that’s supposed to happen? or, at the very least, be able to see thru his enemies’ plans? yet, here he is suffering from memory loss and about to die. he’s practically powerless and useless at this point even tho he’s supposed to be the emperor.
right now, it feels more like anastacius and jeanette’s story rather than claude and athy’s story. it’s just ridiculous. i appreciate angst in stories but this much is just unnecessary. ppl hyped this story up so much but the plot is just mediocre.

He did provide himself with some kind of shield, but it only works if an ill-intentioned person enters a perimeter close to Claude or Athanasia. It is for this reason that Claude's brother used Jeanette who has a pure heart to reach Claude. This has been explained several times so please don't blame the author for nothing.
On the other hand, it's true that the last chapters focus particularly on Jeanette and her biological father but is not this normal? The story retains the basic plot of the book that the real Athanasia had read.
Finally, I advise you to read the novel. The author has really done a great job that is well transcribed in the webtoon. You may have been disappointed with another of her stories, but I can assure you that she has a lot of talent.

the plot just honestly took a turn for the worse after season 1 and here i am still hopelessly waiting that things will get better soon and for it to go back to the way it used to, but it still hasn’t. there’s still no resolution after so many chapters.

Yea I get you, but they are kind of in hiatus..? I mean Claude is currently bedridden and Athy is training her magic with Lucas so with this it gave author-nim a chance to go more into detail about the bad guys while going back and fort to Athy for an update of what's the condition of Claude and along with Athy and Lucas trying to figure it out, something like so when the bad guys do their thing like what anastacius did just now we won't be surprised with them suddenly popping up out of nowhere ╮(￣▽￣)╭

I personnaly think that Claude protection is really effective.Even though he was away from Athy, Claude's brother managed to get hurt, a sign that the shield remains quite effective. Also, I remind you that there are few people who know how to use magic so Claude didn't really expect it. Moreover, he is attacked by his brother, whom he believes is dead, a brother endowed with knowledge and power almost equal to those of Claude. Moreover, black magic is prohibited and Claude did not practice it, the use of black magic against the emperor surely did not touch the mind.

Totally agree with you. Also every character needs a story and a character to make the story deeper. Jeanette's personality has already been given to us but we still don't know much about Claude's brother, for example, why is he alive? Why does he hate Claude so much? Without her characters, wouldn't the story be boring?
