I rlly like these characters bc they’re so human. There’s no perfect villain or hero or victim. Both JJK and Dan have their flaws and have their own toxic behaviors. Ppl can’t comprehend why JJK would treat Dan like trash even if they had similar upbringings. Think: someone who had an unstable childhood, lived each day to prove something to his bum abusive father, only to never hear that praise and love he desperately wanted. JJK wants to be the best because he’s nothing without the titles. He’s honest and aware that he’s a shit person but that doesn’t matter to him as long as he’s the winner and has control over his life. Dan and JJK are both different results of how a rough childhood can affect u. Dan shoulders his blame while JJK blames others. They’re really opposites despite coming from similar pasts. Their role to each other in the future is def to show each other a different way a living and healing from the past together.

There was a grandma helping him out when he was little which is probably why he likes Dans grandma a lot. This chap also shows us how JJK probably sees himself in Dan which is why he’s so harsh and pushes him to be healthier/not so wimpy. He doesn’t like weak ppl cuz he knows how it feels to be weak. I hope JJK continues to soften up and they can actually have a shot at a real relationship

I find it odd that people have such a hard time sympathizing with a broken person's suffering.
Just because you feel bad about someone's situation it doesn't mean you agree with their behavior.
It remind me of a case of a man that killed his wife because she was physically abusing him for years.
It doesn't justify the murder but it makes me sympathize with him. He is a victim and a perpetrator.
Jaekyung is an abusive partner for sure but he also has a broken mind and a heart. Most people growing up in the same environment end up being crimminals (as is shown with his box mates)

His mother distances herself, so she has no "feminine" or motherly love to show much emotion/empathy. His father is an abusive asshole who exude actual toxicity and he might associate that with "masculinity" (his father beats him, his trainer allows him to be beat for money).

So HELL YEAH, I can understand why he did the things he did. He has trust issues, he wanted an escape from the pain, he wanted to prove to his father something, he wanted money to find his mom, etc. Of COURSE I'm gonna feel bad, and I bet the MC will, too, but because he now has a slight bit of backbone, he's probably gonna help the ML recover.

HEAR THAT? RECOVER. Abuse doesn't just magically go away. You need THERAPY and someone to help you. Did jaekyung have that? NO. WHY DO EXPECT HIM TO BE PERFECT???
