I think that she's just not mentally all there. Her brain is all scrambled from years of hell and torture, even thousand years, she's all mixed up. But she still tried to save her friend, so maybe she still redeemable?

Maybe with the writer is trying to say, that even goddesses or powerful beings can be manipulated and gas lit like anyone else. That mental abuse and being manipulated isn't on the fault of anyone and it's not a weakness. It's a reaction. The association was meant to be a bridge that made that normalcy possible, but as you can tell the corruptions go crazy.
