Now that I've finished, I'm kinda at a loss for words. I feel I had to rate it 5 stars, because the story was so...natural that it kept me enraptured. For me personally, my ratings for BL aren't just dependent on how cute its story or how lustful its smut is, but rather how much it managed to immerse me, and this kept me on the edge of my seat.
I was so prepared - even saddened by the thought - that there would not to be the happy ending I envisioned, yet I was perfectly willing to just go along for the ride. There was kink, romance, angst, and sadness from a story I never would've expected to be so extensive. Honestly, probably one of the best BLs I've read.
It does make me happy that the redhead got to experience some semblance of happiness, cause he genuinely was a good guy. I do kinda wish the side story continued in order to show less rapey vibes, and instead explore the deeper topics of the redhead's need to be loved.
Also, Polo's human form was SEXY ⁄(⁄ ⁄·⁄ω⁄·⁄ ⁄)⁄
Yeah, I'm not changing my rating. This is a shit show that is trying to turn itself into a typical love story. At this point, I'm disillusioned; like a "Meh, let's just finish it up"
On the other hand, I'm genuinely glad for the people who were able to see past the copious amount of hot dog water that was the first arc of this story. I hope y'all get your lovey-dovey happy ending.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go read BJ Alex again to get a story that actually has a *plausible* redemption arc
