it is. but he seems to enjoy his life with maomao from what i read. he even makes friends and still a cheerful young lad.

I mean yeah he'll enjoy life. Its just sad from a 3rd person's perspective. It's literally ignorance is bliss, but he lost memory of his mother and other people in the village, the other kids that loulan was not able to save etc. At the same time, he may never feel the pain of losing all of them.

It doesn't help that it was emphasized that he kept looking for his mom and how ecstatic he was from just seeing her for a couple of minutes. That's what has been ingrained in my brain about kyou.

also i'm so glad i joined ya'll too, especially before the one piece was revealed. like that was my whole goal lol. i first started watching op in 2023 and have been consistently watching to catch up since. (had to take breaks in between cause oh boy some shit i needed to sit with before continuing) then i caught up with the anime right before it started airing again. and then started reading the manga from where the anime left off and it took me 2 months to read the manga cause of the heavy lore drops and the sadness (kuma) was insane. also ignore this longass message like i just had to say it cause i been holding this in ahahahajdk

Haha don’t worry, i get it. When i started One Piece and caught up to the anime, the latest episodes were in Dressrosa arc so binging the manga from that point was amazing. I think after I caught up, I stacked the manga and anime for about a year by binging a bunch of different mangas so I had stacked kuma’s backstory up to chapters 1147 before binging again. Now I’m just reading weekly again and I wish I’d stacked a couple more months since everything is so intense right now.

damnnn that's a looong time back. once i read something interesting i can't help but read it weekly once i catch up like i don't have the patience AND i can't risk myself getting spoiled yk especially when it's so intense and at any moment smth really important could be revealed

Yeah, but it’s easy to choose to stack when one piece hits a flashback or a down time. I know I can take easy then. Plus I read a lot so it was easy to focus on other things.
