His aether is definitely the right answer, but it's not only that. He's drawn to the prince personality. He felt "saved" both physically and emotionally whenever he's around Jesse.

And just to let you know that this manhwa/novel never focuses on love because it's glazed by the plot system known as lifetime partner.
Basically something like Cardinal Boutier and empress frederique. They're besties/sisters and can even become borderline "romance" to the readers if not for the fact that Empress Frederick has a husband she's totally in love with, which is Cedric's father.
Initially it was because of aether but I'm pretty sure later on it's more towards personal since he's actually the only person Cedric have open up to completely outside of his family. I'd say it's a mix between the aether and also his own personal feelings, as Jesse was just a prisoner(?) in the country (like it's a temporary stuffs, Jesse technically could leave if he wants to?) Cedric probably felt insecure and feels like Jesse will leave him. it doesn't need to be romantic to have possessive feelings anyways. It could be platonic but yeah. Also he keeps Jesse away from his sis also out of protectiveness (he knew Jesse got treated badly in his country, though he didn't knew about the sister) And insecure of the possibility Jesse leaving the country and go back to his original country.
At least that's how I understand it lol
Tho I'm pretty sure aether also play huge part to his possessiveness.

OGJesse is revived back!
So actually, the current Jesse (Yeseo) actually died once, he was killed by that bastard werner (HE ACTUALLY SUCCEDED). And the 2 countries went on war after that.
But thankfully, it seems that OGJesse's body is being preserved as it was, so one way or another they're able to bring him back. Iirc, the siblings should be able to reunite some time, but it was not for long... because Elise, the oldest sister died near the end of the novel.

Honestly I don't know that much since I too, only saw the spoiler... but I remember the spoiler said that Elise actually saved werner after he killed Jesse, but it's probably because what she saw is not him killing Jesse, but the crown prince almost killing werner in his rage after seeing Jesse's cold body

i don’t get why everyone hates the ML? it’s very common, in REAL LIFE, to hear bad rumors about someone and those rumors shape how you see them. because of those rumors you don’t want to get to know that person yourself, until a chance presents itself and you see that person is actually so different from what other people say and then you end up actually liking them.
this has happened to me personally so many times where i don’t like someone cuz of bad rumors i heard, until i get to know them and i realize they’re much different from what others say and i end up liking them and being friends with them. all of yall in the comments acting like he’s committing the greatest sin and he’s trash for only liking her now, when this is something that actually happens and is really not that big of a deal
