Nightmare Building
This webtoon is utter trash. I can't even tag this as smut because the smut is crap. It's censored by complete obscuration, so honestly, this webtoon has no reason for existing. Why draw a BL if you're not going to either focus on the smut or on the romance? Those are the two main reasons to read BL, aren't they? Either people want to read a porn without plot or a plot without porn, or some balance of those two. This one has no plot and terrible porn, it's so softcore, there's no point of drawing it out. I wouldn't have a problem with this if the romance or plot was good, but even that is non-existent, so I'm just mad in general. I'm not even sure about the translation, since it says the white haired guy is a nightmare, then a monk, then a succubus, I don't even know what he's supposed to be at this point. Then the translation goes from alright to awful in the latest chapters. This webtoon is basically just asking to be let go or to end its misery at this point. There's nothing happening between each chapter. The art is at least tolerable, but it's nowhere good enough to save it from itself. Hopefully, the author will learn from this experience and do a better job in their next work. Maybe this is just a drawing exercise, because if this was supposed to be a serious thing, it really failed.
The third perspective
Not too certain about this BL webtoon. It presents itself as dark and serious, but the pacing is too slow. Not much happens between each chapter, feels like filler so far. There isn't a lot of real depth, and people do things for uncertain reasons. The male lead is seeing a psychiatrist for his mental health issues, but he's also in love with him too. The psychiatrist is clearly abusing his doctor-patient rights here by having a physical relationship here, and manipulating him emotionally. Not sure what his end goal is. He also has another male lover on the side who might also be his patient. I have no idea what kind of injectable drugs a psychiatrist might need to use for this guy (since it doesn't seem like he has schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, which are the main injectables for psychiatry), like I feel like this author doesn't know how psychiatry works in real life and is just using it as a prop. You most certainly don't need some random non-medically trained person to hold someone down during an injection, either. Sigh. Well, it's not as bad as other BL out there so far, we'll see what happens. Art is so-so. Update: It ended. Hooray. Done with this trash. The last part of the story was rushed and made zero sense.
100 Strange Nights
A collection of stories that are unrelated to each other, but do have cameos of characters from other chapters appearing, suggesting it all takes place in the same universe. Some of the twists are fun, but they're also too vague and not easily understood by readers, such as the first story of Bian Lian and the story of Xenogenesis. I'm guessing in Bian Lian, the weasel killed the actor to replace him/her, so it can take care of its savior, but the hints are too few and far in between to conclusively think that. I have no idea what happened at the end of Xenogenesis. It was set up to make it seem like a happy ending, but then it looped back to the beginning of the story, so now I'm confused. Did the guy and his chameleon capture other chameleons or is he abusing his chameleon? It's totally ok for an ending to be ambiguous, but this was a little too vague for me. I think the problem lies in the amount of breadcrumbs (details) so readers can pick up on the clues. The art is about average, but it suits this genre well.
Again My Life
This is the law version of "Medical Return," except with much less lawyering. There's a heavy focus on real estate that doesn't quite grab me, to be honest, which is why I didn't like this as much as "Medical Return". After the mock trial, there hasn't been any real lawyer action going on. I hope it does shape up to be more of a law-focused webtoon instead of the strong real estate agent vibe going on. In fact, even in the story, he's more famous for being a real estate genius than for his lawyering skills. It doesn't show too much of his law school studies either. I wish it would show more of why his target (the villain) is so bad that he is single-mindedly focused on bringing him down, because that's the whole reason why he was given a second chance, unlike in "Medical Return," where that protagonist was given a second chance simply to live a better life. If the reason is to bring down an antagonist, there needs to be a better, and more compelling reason so readers can understand the protagonist's drive. The art is not bad, but most of the characters look the same or very similar, and it's hard to remember who is who. Update: I changed my opinion, I think this webtoon is now superior to "Medical Return," the reason being that the protagonist here is actually smarter than the other one. Although characters praise him, he stays largely hidden and operating in the shadows, and it's extremely satisfying to see him take the villains down. Now we are shown why the baddies are bad, thank god. But there's still no actual lawyering going on, so that's a minus.
Dark Mortal
Male lead lost his parents in a fire when he was young, and he was permanently disfigured and blinded, but he still can live on because he has an adorable black blob that guides him. Seriously, the black blob is so cuteeeeee. But there's more! It turns out the black blob is suppressing all the black monsters that are bubbling beneath the surface, and there's other people who are like him. It's really interesting, and there are definitely a bunch of twists that keep you guessing. It's been a while since I've read such an interesting webtoon. The art is quite good, and very well suited for this genre. I have no idea what that other person in the top comments is saying, that this is a 13 year old's wet dream because it's so much deeper than that. They dropped the series before it reached its full potential. Update: The first chapter for Season 2 just got released, and it looks like a bummer right now. I hope this series doesn't go downhill, because I really liked the first season... Update 2: Finished. Season 2 was awful, as I had feared. Nonsensical plot, flat characters, and Kkamjang is barely there. Ending was rushed and silly. Got a lot of shounen vibes from this type of conclusion where every is happily married after a timeskip. Sigh. Disappointed.
Forget About My Husband, I'd Rather Go Make Money
Promotional one shot with some typical story about a girl who marries for political reasons, but then decides to go off on her own path. Nothing particularly distinguishing about her story, she seems like a basic shoujo fantasy webtoon female lead. She has some magic vision but since it's just a promo, it doesn't really go into how she'll use this power. Art is below average.
Everything was a Mistake
Female lead isekai'd to the world of a novel, where she's a villainess, and she wants to avoid her fate by becoming close to the male protagonist of the novel. The male protagonist thinks she's under his dark magic spell, so that's why she stays with him, when everyone else avoids him. Art is about average for shoujo webtoon. It does get better with the new chapters when it's revealed that the male love interest/male lead of the novel is actually a villain, and she befriended someone she should have avoided completely. It was refreshing to see.
Different World Chinese Medicine Shop
Translation seems a bit off in some parts, but it's passable. The art is slightly above average for a webtoon, especially the backgrounds. The character designs are average though. As someone who is constantly torn between Western medicine and Traditional Chinese medicine myself, I totally feel for this guy, but I find it hard to believe that just because of his thalassemia, he can't get a job. Because there's treatment for that, such as medications and stuff. Besides, being a Western doctor vs. Traditional Chinese medicine practitioner doesn't mean it's less stressful to do the latter, it really depends on what specialty you're in for Western medicine. Some specialties are super chill and relaxed, so even if you have an illness, you can still practice. Or you can open a private clinic and fix your own hours. And from my understanding, it's not that easy to seamlessly switch from one to the other, since you need the training, and it's different for Oriental medicine. It's too early to tell how this will go, so we'll see if it gets better from here.
For Better or For Worse
Oh my god, this isekai villainess webtoon is funny. I wasn't expecting it. She's the sister of a girl who will marry the male lead, and she will do everything in her power to prevent that from happening, but it seems now the male lead has set his sights on her instead, because of her obviously mean behavior towards him. The art is fine except for the facial features of the characters, especially the eyes, which are very freaky.
