Rensou No Aria
Orphan girl gets engaged to the mysterious man that has been sponsoring her orphanage for the past 10 years. Suddenly she's being targeted due to being the fiancée to a large corporation's chairman; right at that moment a bodyguard appears claiming to be sent by the chairman to protect her. I kind of wish the ending had been a bit more elaborate, it seemed that things got wrapped up in a rush.
Akatoki Hoshi Residence
4 different (but connected with each other) stories about aliens on their mission to investigate Earth as a possible place for their race to relocate to, since their home planet is dying. All stories were adorable in varying degrees, I think the one I liked the least was the first one, I found it a bit bland. I'm glad I kept reading since all the other stories were considerably better. I think the only moment I found the couple from the first story funny, was how they handled the guy from the office, I never would have guessed they'd yell "kidnapper" at him xD
Paradise View
Sequel of Kimi to Parade http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/kimi_to_parade/ Apparently this one should be read when alone and you can spare A LOT of time to grieve. Beware especially of the extra chapter, it will ruin any delusions of a happy ending :|
Ano Hi, Seifuku De
I might have a heart of ice... didn't really get sad at the story in chapter 1, if anything I got angry. How can a guy gather up the courage to confess to someone and then run away without giving them a chance to react? And never try to make contact with said person (who he had been crushing on the entire time they were together...), only to meet him 5 years later at his bachelor's party? And when that poor guy manages to gather his courage and ask him straight if the guy had confessed to him, just to reply without an answer but have sex with him??? ONLY TO LEAVE HIM RIGHT AFTERWARDS AND SAY THAT IT WAS ALL A JOKE???? What an asshole. Sempai B from chapter 2 was also an asshole, I'm glad C-kun stayed with A-Sempai. I want to hold out hopes that there's a happy ending for both kids in chapter 3. Chapter 4 had YET ANOTHER ASSHOLE... poor kid, seriously. I'm happy transfer student isn't alone anymore, somehow I have this feeling that I've read this story before, but that there was more to it than just this one chapter.... Chapter 6 has the cutest, most understanding childhood friends ever ^_^
Le théâtre de B
I love, love the mangaka's art style, it's beyond beautiful. And I really like the use of colours on some stories, it really complements them well. There were SO many stories... Some of them kind of sweet, others a bit dark, some were pretty sad actually, and there were a few that just were a bit too confusing for me. Still, even despite that, it's a definitive 4/5 volume.
2 Shuukan No Adventure
First chapter is part one of a 3-part story, I'm not sure why the rest wasn't uploaded. I really don't want to pass too harsh judgement on that first chapter without reading the rest of the story, but it really is a bit too "troubled" for me The other chapters belong as a "side story" to another series. It goes like this: 1) Barairo no Hoo no Koro 2) J no Subete Vol.1 3) 2 Shuukan no Adventure 4) J no Subete Vol.2-3 Man... what a rollercoaster of emotions, I feel sooo bad for how much so many of them had to go through. I'm quite fortunate to have been alive in this time, when issues true equality is able to be fought for a bit more openly than back then (we still have a long way to go, but we've definitely gone a long way since those years). This series definitely is worth reading, it touches on several topics that are still quite relevant today and really makes you see how much the characters suffered throughout their lives, not just by other people's hands but by their own "demons" as well. For this particular section of the series, I feel bad mostly for Gerry than Eugene (or even his wife). We don't really get to understand Eugene's real reasons behind his betrayal back in school, we don't even know if his claim that Gerry was "becoming scary" was even true or not, so in this regard I kind of side in Gerry's position and well.. he probably felt very hurt and confused by Eugene's actions, he obviously still loved him even after he did that to him, but decided to give him space, to honour his supposed wishes. After all that, he comes back to his hometown(-ish?) and does a good job as a doctor there. It was Eugene who didn't give a flying fuck at the fact that he got his wife pregnant (yeah, it wasn't a marriage for love, but he still played his dutiful role as a husband? Or yeah, he could hate her for it, but it was still his OWN child!!!), I feel bad that Gerry was caught between those two spurned "lovers". Everyone's happy at the last chapter, but do we really know for sure how long ago that letter was sent... I can't help but feel a bit cynical about how things sort of concluded for Gerry, Eugene, and his wife.
Barairo no Hoo no Koro
All the stories go like this: 1) Barairo no Hoo no Koro 2) J no Subete Vol.1 3) 2 Shuukan no Adventure 4) J no Subete Vol.2-3 Man... what a rollercoaster of emotions, I feel sooo bad for how much so many of them had to go through. For this particular section of the series, at first I really felt annoyed at Andrew, his attitude. Then I pitied him a bit, considering all anyone ever thought of him was "the Mayor's son", having been on a sort of similar position, I KNOW how angering that ends up being. Middle-school Paul was cutest out of ALL the characters in the entire series, I think... it was such a pity to see him all grown and changed :P Then the ending... gah. I REALLY feel bad for Andrew now, it's like nothing ever went right for him, life just kept shitting bricks on him and his lack of maturity just made things worse. I'm glad J has someone that cares for him deeply, but I think that that person could have been Andrew too, and the person for Andrew could have been Paul, you know, who knows, all three or I don't know! But it feels bad that only Andrew got the short end of the stick, all the way to the very end.
J no Subete
All the stories go like this: 1) Barairo no Hoo no Koro 2) J no Subete Vol.1 3) 2 Shuukan no Adventure 4) J no Subete Vol.2-3 Man... what a rollercoaster of emotions, I feel sooo bad for how much so many of them had to go through. For this particular section of the series, before reading this I _really_ didn't like J, not one bit. I saw him just as "that little brat that got in the way of Paul and Andrew", but now it's like... this poor kid had so, so many horrible things happen, lived such a pained life, grew up with no self-worth whatsoever because all everyone else saw him with was disdain. I'm sure that there's still a lot I can't really understand about J's circusmtances, I don't know if there was a real desire to be a woman and not just a crossdresser; in either case really, I'm pretty certain that there's a lot of nuances that went over my head or if even J's situation was really an appropriate portrayal of someone in that position, I don't know. I don't have anyone close to me that is going through anything even remotely similar, but if there were, I wish I could do something for them.
