300325 (55) i really love this manhua and the art is just beyond beautiful but man it's a little too slow and uneventful. i find that's usually the problem with a lot of these manhua-- absolutely stunning but way too dragged out. 310325 (88) finally caught up!! i wish this was more face paced lol 88 chapters and no development whatsoever. but still a very sweet read i enjoyed it!

040725 (84) ok i got a lot of thoughts lmaoo first off, wtf was that abrupt ahh ending?? 2nd, this story is so goddamn long for the plot it has like the slow burn is crazy. i ended up finishing it bc it is mindless entertainment, but damn that was lwk really boring i would not recommend it. it's also extremely childish and written like a wattpad story, especially the dialogue. the art is also extremely wonky at times and there was no improvement whatsoever despite having 84 chapters. this was cute when the two finally got together, but before that it was honestly quite cringe and basic lmao. also, it took like a billion chapters for them to get tgt and then when they finally got tgt it was only like 10 chapters before the manhua was over. the pacing is just not it

050625 (86) tell me why i wasted several hours reading this shit... oh my god this was so badly written. i'm so disappointed because it started off pretty strong but the more i read the worst it got. character: the main characters are extremely unlikeable, but especially the emperor. except for being gorgeous, i literally can't state a good trait about him. he's extraordinarily bland, has no character development, treats xue yuan like shit. also, he's supposed to be someone from the modern day who has transmigrated into a BL novel, so tell me why he lwk is a sadistic tyrannical emperor. he has no modern day attitudes, and nearly all of his actions are to expand his empire and keep his throne. he has barely any reaction to brutality and death, and in fact celebrates it. if he were in a modern day society he'd be seen as an absolute psychopath. i don't like xue yuan much either, but i still find him much more likeable than gu yuanbai. they are both cruel af men, but at least it makes sense for the 'mad dog' to be... y'know, mad. but gu yuanbai is supposed to be a regular ahh guy who transmigrated but no he's insane. plot: the pacing of the plot is so absurdly terrible i don't even know what to say. it's also crazy that none of the transmigration stuff is explained whatsoever. we don't even know who gu yuanbai originally is, why he transmigrated, etc. not even the foundation of the plot is properly fleshed out, let alone the rest of this story. a whole 86 chapters and barely any substantial plot. they could have condensed all of this into half the number of chapters, because seriously, the plot is not engaging enough for it to be that long. romance: there is barely any romance. like 86 chapters in and gu yuanbai still isn't even remotely attracted to xue yuan. in fact, he is actively confirming that he is straight at every fucking chance he gets. he uses the fact that xue yuan likes him to his benefit, but then throws him away when xue yuan shows interest. all the meanwhile he's 'trying' to be a matchmaker for xue yuan and chu wei. what an actual waste of time. this is taking 'slow burn' to the extreme, but it's so badly written that there's no chemistry whatsoever, just two horrible people trying to use each other. i found their relationship dynamic interesting at the start, but it dragged on for so long with no development. also, when xue yuan fell for the emperor, the power dynamics became extremely unbalanced, with gu yuanbai having imperial power and being able to do wtv tf he wants to xue yuan, and also that xue yuan would love him no matter what he did. i also hate how xue yuan sexually harassed gu yuanbai several times too?? like, genuinely, what even is this manhua why the hell did i read this 'til the end...

140925 (30) so funny and cute. also unexpectedly sad, like the backstory omg :(

200925 (28) it felt promising and i really enjoyed the beginning, but it just got progressively more disappointing. the entire drama play arc was absolutely ridiculous with all the role swapping every two seconds... ESPECIALLY when the costumes had already been made. having 2 guys with ZERO acting experience joining the cast out of nowhere??? there is absolutely no common sense or logic in this manhua. it was so drawn out and baffling. all the misunderstandings the characters are getting abt each other that at first felt entertaining, started to just feel annoying because they KEPT snowballing into worse assumptions and not getting resolved at all. the part i liked the most abt this was the uke crossdressing, super super cute. the clothing was all absolutely gorgeous. but yeah other than that, this was quite the disappointment. also i was rlly hoping dayu would end up with that pink haired girl, i felt so bad for him and i feel like they would have chemistry. so i was super disappointed to see sha li getting a crush on her :( my ship... OMG WAIT I JUST FOUND OUT THE COUPLE IS INDEED DAYU X THE PINK HAIRED PERSON YAYYYY. and omg it turns out she's actually a boy?! hell yes (48) OK SO I'VE FInISHED IT LOLL. although i like zuo chen paired up with luo yi, the development of their relationship (or lack thereof) was lacklustre. it felt awkward, unnatural and unromantic. they started dating over a misunderstanding and then you don't really even see them fall in love with each other after that. you just see a bunch of silly drama. i wish this story just focused on the main couple because clearly, 3 couples was way too much to handle for the author seeing as 2 of them had extremely bad writing and had very incomplete stories. like, what even happened with dayu and li lu hello?? i liked the ending tho it was pretty darn cute, i rlly like the main couple.

290925 (28) the art is beautiful and it’s pretty cute, but to be honest i find the cp’s interactions quite awkward and unnatural, especially in the start. i don’t know, their dialogue and actions just felt kinda off? still enjoyed it tho

280925 the premise sounds AMAZING im sat. unfortunately the delivery probably isn't as good as it could be (according to the comments) but im still def gonna read this! 081025 (61) NOOOOO GIVE ME MORE AIOJDIOJWOEJI. honestly. i fucking loved this. it was so cringy and so bad but SO GOOD AT THE SAME TIME LMAOO. i still lowkey don't forgive keyao, and i hate how he never really properly apologises for all that bullshit he said to yi during their first fight. i also am not very convinced abt how much he likes yi. however, my lords do i love yi. he's so funny and adorable and gorgeous. genuinely the reason i kept reading HE'S JUST TOO CUTE. this was such an entertaining read lmaoo, just gotta turn your brain off and enjoy the ride.

131025 (26.61) THIS IS LITERALLY SO GOOD OMFG the transmigration story out of nowhere was a little strange and out of place BUT OMG THE MAIN STORY AHHH. i want more so bad :(( these two have the funniest and cutest relationship GODDD I NEED TO SEE THEM GET TOGETHER!! i love the pilot premise it is so interesting. also the art?!! amazing omfg. the seme is SO HANDSOME its insane. the mics suchhh a cutie too. im definitely going to go and read the og version now!!
