The Villainess’s Wise Retirement Plan
29 Too much child abuse as background The story where family members have to kill each other to be the strongest is really sick But if you leave it out, it’s quite entertaining

Carnivorous Hunter
85 4+ Real tension, high mortality count, not much room for morality, but a true higher purpose and much saner than the title suggests it’s worth enduring a very dry and morbid start , the pace is great and the tension is hight, as soon as side characters are added, it loses it’s insufferable indifference and you get hooked in The world is harsh, the monsters originals and terrible The powers, which exist in an interesting variety, are activated by core energy, which can be trained to grow a bit, but like any fuel, run out. When the characters use their powers a lot . It makes even the strongest vulnerable in front of the horde of monsters And, as we soon learn, the odds are truly against the survival of humanity It’s one of those rare stories where the MC is truly weak at the start, grows slowly, get hurt, needs to be saved and to train from other and to learn from stronger than him The MC is a very peculiar character, as he is depicted as a very cold, nearly emotionless character Despite that very dry trait, he is not indifferent either, and thankfully, it isn’t either a sign of mental deviousness. In fact , he has a strong hero suit and his core aspirations are to fight the worst evil for the greater good of humanity Despite a sordid ability, there are strong boundaries kept, the MC won’t hurt and devour anyone to get stronger or replenish his battery, he only attacks (very) bad people or defend himself, rarely takes in the sacrifice of his friends who offer their powers when they know they are beyond saving The MC can make a lot of unbearable compromises to reach his greater goal That makes him hard to relate to, but as he surround himself with a bunch of brawny kids to build his team, it soon doesn’t feel as heavy as in the beginning I had a hard time with the beginning, but when the teammates appeared, i could not stop reading Not recommended for sleep, but good entertainment I would disagree with most comments I found the beginning very harsh and dry the MC is weak, he knows it, and he is used to lay low, to see people dying around him. He learned to freeze , so yes, he can just stay still and let someone he cares for get attacked and die next to him without reacting to save himself . This is very odd to me, but not that strange if you consider he’s a normal human, being a guide for superhuman fighting super monsters : how long would he have lasted if not for that ? Then i read some people complaining he seldom uses his ability I particularly enjoyed he put some restrictions to it : to me it makes sense and it is much more enjoyable : how would you feel if a voice suddenly taunted you into killing nearly anyone with supernatural abilities ? That includes friends and teammates, there’s no restriction from your feelings Would you trust that voice or want to keep control ? I enjoy the author did put a lot of of limits to this absolutely broken power If the MC started to devour anyone, the story would be over within few chapters, he would either beat monsters or be hunted for good reasons Instead of that the MC wants to keep his rationality, but also to hide this vicious ability The power is difficult to absorb, he literally faints in the beginning : he needs time to grow, but passing out puts him in extreme danger Then, despite being cold and a loner, he has strong moral boundaries : he kills and steels from very bad guys, he doesn’t randomly vampirises anyone for the sake of being stronger : thank god ? Lastly he needs to master the use of core abilities All these rare restrictions made it enjoyable for me : he doesn’t become a god in 20c, he needs to learn, struggle, get bitten, his life feels truly in danger and many are stronger than him : growth takes time I love it, it brings tension ! i’m tired of these OP characters who turn into ssss super humans over night and predictably beat the crap out of anything Lastly i also don’t think the MC is dumb : we only perceive the signs that somethings are wrong because he shows us That alone proves he is not that dumb But I also think it’s in the same vein as having an OP power isn’t it all : because he has regressors memory doesn’t mean he knows or understands all , even less that he can stop or prevent all bad things or save anyone I also appreciate the author pointing many times that foreign memories are confusing As for why and how he didn’t make the perfect guess from his observations : A long time loner won’t easily trust , evenless a boss he just met ? We don’t know all the rules of this military system : would a mere rookie suspicion have effect ? What if he suspects someone with a good reputation , We also don’t know all about the powers and how they affect individuals. Maybe he had valid reasons not to doubt his intuition : obviously stronger beings might not be influenced as easily the weaker ones? The MC is an incomplete, imperfect and young, he has much to learn and plenty room to grow As a reader , i feel like this is a merit, not a flaw
The Player Hides His Past
53 brillant The idea of the split hero allows for the MC to be both the archetype of the dark hero with a revenge and your average cowardly modern guy , full of ordinary flaws ( like greed) The balance between the two is good enough so that the flaws of both archetypes don’t feel too burdensome The characters powers are on the same vein : the super duper OP perfction of the dark hero allows meet the very pathetic amount of mane of a regular guy with little experience Add to that a variety of secondary characters with strong personalities, quests that mostly bring the best out of players, cooperation spirit that surpass even greed and you have a witty, fun, faster paced story full of heart and spunk Definitely a bad choice for sleeping, but most certainly a very entertaining ride Add to that
Not Your Monster-in-Law
23 There’s only one flaw : why does the MC has that evil disease ? How come shr think of the people as novels protagonists, when she has no reason to believe she lives in a novel ?? Did that bad disease spread so wildly that now even « non reader MC » can have it ?!? It’s sad as none of it make sense, and she would be much more wonderful without any of that crap ? In the same manner, is there any need to be reborn from our time ? Is there any point to it ? Or is it for business purposes (another thing we could obviously do without, even more when she makes investments without a penny to her name) It’s interesting as far as moral values goes, but it’s burdensome otherwise. How would a previous life have more influence in your thought process than your current life ? It’s plain nonsensical On top of that, she could also have the same moral virtues from her own life experiences. She had to take responsibility very young, she might be sensitive to the conditions of the poorest, and genuinely care for kids. Outside of these painful background tropes, i truly enjoyed the very poised and down to earth principled lady. The variation on the equation of the step mother is refreshing (she has no children to care for, the son is older than her, married with kids !) It has potential if it stray away from the reincarnator garbage ?
MookHyang - Dark Lady Webtoon
48 murum meet med fan + meca + gender blender You’ seen everything, but the mix is original Great pace, lots of interesting characters, enough depth to make a potentially good plot The MC has a good set of values, never abuses his strength, you have ample time to discover him bedore he turns lady dark
World Rank No. 0, Please Stop!
29 Some compla8ns how mundane she turns but i like it very much . She didn’t turn her surrounding into a tale, she doesn’t interact with people like they are « characters « , she’s not some deus ex machina and what she can do for real is little. Meeting people, becoming friends, helping out with small means even as a grown up, it can be so challenging … it’s kind of slow, but fun and soft too. It’s certainly not too complicated either but it’s fine as a light read ?
