Silence

Ongoing | Takamiya Azuma | 2004 released

7 Chapters (Hiatus) Ahhh why didn't the author continue the story! We know it's "friends become lovers" and they both have feelings for each other, so we know where it was about to go, but I really wanted to see it happen and to see the ending! At least we got at the end of ch. 7 the direct confession of Masato to Kaoru. And they were finally about to clear their mutual misunderstanding and to reveal their unspoken feelings...Btw, I like the title "Silence" alluding to their unexpressed feelings. The manga stopped exactly when they were breaking that silence by revealing their thoughts and emotions! It's really a pity that the story has been on hiatus for many years already and the author herself doesn't even seem to be active anymore...

Yunagi No Machi Sakura No Kuni

Complete | Kouno Fumiyo | 2004 released

A thought-provoking masterpiece that needs to be read! It's not a very long story, but, in these three chapters, the author conveyed all that there was to say, all that was truly important to say. It's a very sad story, but it's beautifully and sensibly written. She quietly conveyed a beautiful anti-war message. It was humane and touching! In the end, it leaves us with a hopeful feeling for the future that somehow helps to fill a bit that feeling of void and desolation left by the first chapter. I also liked the structure in which the story was told. The shifts between present and flashbacks were well-executed. And the art style was very fitting. Adapted to two live-action movies: mydramalist.com / 2893-yunagi-city-sakura-country (unfortunately I didn't find it to watch); watchasian.sh / drama-detail / town-of-evening-calm-country-of-cherry-blossoms
