Paradise View

Complete | kojima lalako | 2013 released

✿ IMO, the prequel "Kimi to Parade" was already really good, but this emotional sequel is truly a MASTERPIECE! It was so intense: reading this was like a journey full of emotions. I couldn't stop myself, I read it all at once! Sensei gave us a really sweet, fluffy prequel just to crush our hearts later with this sequel: it makes you wish those peaceful days in "Kimi to Parade" would last forever! From the first chapters of "Paradise View", sensei already made my heart ache with uneasy lines such as "I had always thought that our peaceful days would continue forever"/"The same sunset as always, the same road home. But for some reason I felt very lonely. At that time, I still didn't know the reason why. But now, I understand", which made me so anxious. But this story was kinda realistic, so I really appreciated it: I liked how sensei showed us the fluffy, cute side of BL, but also the more serious, realistic one, where things are not always easy and don't always go as one hoped for. Like in the case of Hideo and Tomohisa, who love each other so much, but as they approach the age of 30 they come face-to-face with a harsh reality. It was painful to see how they grew distant and didn't communicate properly. Hideo's traditional family who wanted him to marry surely had a huge part in his uncertainty, but he really was so indecicive and wavered till the end! Even his sister told him: "You probably don't have the same resolve as Akaboshi-san". So, there were times where I hated him and for a moment I even thought that it wouldn't be so bad if Tomohisa ended up with his coworker, Kuzumi. Nevertheless, I really can't help loving this couple! They made me worried, but I'm glad they were able to overcome their problems and reconnect, being stronger than before. It's such a beautiful story, but seriously sensei had to squeeze our hearts till the very end: the extra was so sad!! After all the pain they went through, even fate had to be cruel to them!! ( T ^ T )♡ Prequel: Kimi to Parade

Slice of Life // Betrayal // Debt // Tea Shop // Yakuza // Deliberate Loner // Hidden Past "I knew it. You're a happy person, aren't you? But I guess that's what saved me..." - Just from seeing the cover, I wanted to read this. So, it was on my "wish list" for quite a while: now I can finally say that this is a really good story! I liked the plot, the characters and the art as well. Ryouichi may be such a naive guy who believes in people too easily, but that's why I appreciated him. I liked his honesty and he also has his strong points. After all, he was able to help Ren to escape from his past and made him able to settle things with Tohki, his half-brother. Speaking of which, considering that Ren's past played a big role and that serious issues were present as well, the story still had a nice atmosphere and even funny moments. So, I liked how both dramatic and comic elements were mixed together. Overall, it was an enjoyable, heartwarming story with a nice pace, and some elements felt kinda real. Well, it's also true that towards the end, it seemed a little rushed, especially how the situation was handled, but the development of Ryouchi and Ren's relationship and how they interacted felt just about right! I also wanted to see more of side characters Tohki and Ritsu, I guess. But in the end what interested me the most was precisely the development of the relationship between Ryouichi and Ren. In conclusion, I think the idea is really good. Maybe some things could have been done better, but I'm already satisfied at this point, so I really recommend it.

Fireworks themed - Cool and interesting story of boys who dream of becoming pyrotechnicians! It's not BL, but having such a promising start, I think it's a great, precious story regardless! Anyway it's still such an enjoyable bromance between interesting characters! And last but not least, I love Kino Hinoki's beautiful art! 4 Volumes (Complete) - I hope to read the whole story!!

Diamond Dust

Complete | Kang Hyung-Gyu | 2000 released

"I heard that up at the North Pole, bits of ice get swept up by the wind and float around...and when light from the sun hits them, they sparkle, like diamonds...If you try to catch those little pieces with your hands, they disappear...Although the world really seems like a beautiful thing, you can't catch everything..." ➸ Diamond Dust certainly caught my attention. After reading it, I can say that it's really heatbreaking, but imo it's a great, emotional story. I think it's well written. Personally, I liked the plot, how it was developed and its narrative structure with many flashbacks: I was hooked! I also liked the characters and I think the art-style is unique...the atmosphere and the perspective of certain scenes are amazing! ➸ I think certain encounters happen becuase of fate...and maybe that was the case for Moon HyeRin, a piano prodigy who tried to take her own life, and Lee JooWon, an indie band's vocalist who desperately wanted to live! That is an encounter that will change HyeRin and her life! They both were having a difficult life, because of different circumstances, and what they had in common was the love for music... [Containing spoilers] When they first meet in the story, that's actually a reencounter, because they already met four years earlier in New York, as we find out later through the flashback. However, it's like a first time meeting, because they don't remember each other: she has repressed memories and he has amnesia. So, it was interesting to see how they interacted. HyeRin's mind erased that memory in which she experienced immense happiness, because she knew that the freedom she felt that day would never come again. Still, after meeting him again, she could move her fingers, which had been stiff for three years already, so she felt that there was definitely a connection and she remembered soon after. On the other hand, JooWon had more difficulty becuase of his condition, but then he also managed to remember their first meeting...yes, he remembered! It was emotional when HyeRin read on the piece of paper "We met in New York". And in the process of all this, they fell in love with each other! "If I am with HyeRin, even this foggy world is beautiful. I have to live. I want to live". Yet, time was running out for JooWon...ahhh my poor heart! ╥﹏╥ ➸ It's certainly sad and it bought tears to my eyes, but it's a beautiful touching story! So, for me it's worth reading it and I recommend it, especially to those who for example loved Koizora and were moved by it. ➸ Digital Comic with Audio - Original webtoon: http://cartoon.media.daum.net/webtoon/view/diamonddust

Dear Friends

Complete | yoshi yuu | 2005 released

"Because we're...friends" - Tragic story about friendship and life lessons from the same author of Deep Love series. It portrays serious topics such as cancer, paraplegia, imminent death, suicide attempt, self-harm etc. [Containing spoilers] Reading this, one may think that what happened to Rina is karma...what goes around, comes around. Well, she was a very selfish girl at first, certainly not a likeable character, but I wouldn't wish cancer to anybody...TBH I'm relieved that she recovered! And I don't think the author wanted to convey the message "you were bad, so you got cancer" neither. That's a cruel thought. Rather, I think we needed to know more about why Rina had such a low consideration of friendship, why she believed that friends are just for convenience and are not really necessary. Anyway, thanks to Maki she understood that what she believed in wasn't right. And she suffered as well. Of course, because of her illness, but not only. It was also sad when Yuosuke, who said to her "I love everything about you", walked away after having seen her body without one or her breasts. And, after having finally realized what true friendship is, she first lost Kanae and later also Maki, who is the true heroin of the story. She showed Rina the true meaning of being friends and to never give up: everyone needs someone to give them a hand, even someone like Rina, who at first said "I'll not rely on losers like you"...she actually needed help and Maki was there for her. A true friend who stayed in the difficult and dark moments, despite Rina's initial rejection! And she saved her, indeed! So yeah, her illness played a big part in making her change, but she learned about the true values of life because she had Maki with her. If it wasn't for her, she would have thrown away her life. She changed because of her and later she took care of her until the day Maki died. The central message is obviously about cherishing friends and at the last two pages, that is what the author wanted to say. [...] "Do you have someone you could call a true friend?" I really liked the story and the message it carries. I recommend to watch the live-action as well. Some details were changed a little, but it was touching and I really liked it.
