Maasain exchange student Luca comes to stay at the home of the gentle animal loving Makoto’s family in Japan. From the moment they meet there is a connection between the tall, cheerful warrior from the savanna and the small, freckled Makoto. The story is full of beautiful moments as these boys from different countries and backgrounds fall in love. To truly have a genuine chance at a future together, Makoto and Luca need to plan for the future and trust in each other. This beautiful story is full of feel good moments and lots of laughs. The art is lovely; this is definitely a recommended story to read and reread.

Trigger warning: Incest (brother x brother) An erotic taboo story of twin brothers Azuma and Miyabi Sakuragi that was also seriously sweet. Younger twin Azuma adored his slightly helpless yet gifted twin Miyabi. As he grew older his love changed to include sexual attraction and he struggled to hide those feelings from Miyabi. The mangaka really makes the most of the tortured feelings of forbidden desire and what happens when an irresistible temptation was placed too close. I loved the brothers genuine lifelong affection and how sweet they were to each other. A really great story if you don’t mind the taboo elements.

Brothers Minoru (26yo) and Yutaka (16yo) have been apart for the 10 years it took for Minoru to graduate from university and get settled in a job. In that time the siblings shared letters and fond memories of a close bond. When Minoru returns home with his new job the brothers notice the changes in each other but their affection is heartwarming. Over the summer break they each become aware that their love is more than just brothers and both struggle with how to deal with that. Their story is really beautiful, set over the lazy heat of summer where you can almost hear the cicadas and smell sun warmed hair. I loved how the mangaka managed to infuse innocence and a pure love into what is essentially a taboo theme.

Math prep teacher Mr Kiriya is being ardently pursued by senior year student Akito. The younger student fell in love with Mr Kiriya the moment he laid eyes upon him, even when he realised his sensei had feelings for another man. This adorably fluffy story follows this pair as they enter a one sided love alliance with each other. One where they will support each other in their one sided pursuit. Only, maybe now it’s not so one sided anymore.

Absolutely adorable. Sano is a freshman at college who wants to fall in love and have the very best college experience. He approaches associate professor in archaeology Mr Kigami, for some tips in dating after hearing of others recommendation. The relationship that develops between these guys is so sweet and honest. There is genuine affection and laughter as well as sexy moments. Really a feel good story.

Stalemate: An uncle and his nephew have spent years developing a strong relationship over chess and good company. Now in his final year of high school there are new choices and stronger feelings to act upon. It’s a cute story, the nephew has loved his uncle for years and they have a good bond between each other. Holding Hands Together: A sweet reunion between distant relatives who have now grown up. Fond memories of first love and holding hands have to adjust to who they are now as adults. Getting Close To A Cat: My favourite story of the 3, this one had more humour with the scary cat obsessed school delinquent falling for the caretaker of a cat shrine who literally embodies the adorable fluff balls.

Dorm mates at school, Manabu and Gabriel initially have little in common. Manabu is popular with a secret love of muscular men. When his delicate roommate passes out in the shower he learns that apparently he also likes prickly tempered English born guys with porcelain skin and pink nipples. The story has loads of dubious consent and is heavy on the smut, but it’s also cute with some sexy moments, somnophilia, and the sweetness of falling in love.

3 of Mio Junta’s short stories. An actor x waiter, swimmer x neet, and senpai x kouhei whose love seems to have fizzled, these were all enjoyable reads. Beautiful artwork, humor and love.

Kirishima Haru has it all. Looks, smarts, charm, and a talent to master things in three hours. The downside being that when the 3 hours are done, he becomes bored of it; be it piano, game design or dating. Then he enters the virtual dating game he created and stumbles upon a plain faced NPC who is a rare character and one that is glitched. But the more time that Haru spends with Ichi the more he realizes that the one he wants to spend more time with isn’t even real. I liked the premise of the story and the characters were cute and likeable.

Twenty eight year old Taiga Masami is the new, young president of the company that Amami Kei works at. When they bumped into each other on President Taiga’s first day they had very different yet equally extreme reactions when they recognised each other. For Kei, it was a nightmare flashback to his first year in high school and a broken heart over cruel words. For Masami it was elation and a fiercely possessive need to keep the already fleeing Kei by his side. I loved the intensity of Masami’s love for Kei, even if it made him a bit too greedy at times. Kei was so cute in high school, my heart broke for him over what he heard. Their reunion story was really great because Kei had to overcome quite a bit and wasn’t an easy catch. He stood his ground which is important when you’re dealing with a possessive lover.
