Tameshi ni Komando Itte mita

Ongoing | Yukue moegi | 2022 released

I honestly love this. FINALLY a sub/dom without any creepy, rape-y undertones or blatant plot tropes. We need more of this! <3 The story itself is incredibly interesting, but I do think it was really rushed. The jump from testing the waters to both of them dating was really random and came out of nowhere, so them 'falling in love' somehow didn't really register. Kinda fell flat and made it feel shallow in terms of emotional impact and immersion. That could have been done better I think. BUT! It's still a good read. Both characters are lovely and interesting and the story and art definitely worth experiencing I would say. Give it a try, I don't think it's a regrettable choice to read it. :)

Samishigariya no Love Letter

Complete | Nanoka | 2014 released

The main story is honestly something I'd like to see more often. It's a really adorable concept and gives room for lots of story options! As for the writing, it's a bit too neglected in the falling-in-love corner of things, because that somehow just happened from one moment to the next without any explaination, which made my personal score a little lower for it than it could have been with extra effort in that part of the story. The second story is also really great! With this one the falling in love had already happened but it makes sense and doesn't need explaining. And seeing them work it out, with all the comedic moments and cute chibi art is just nice. <3 A very adorable couple and character dynamic, can't get enough of seeing this type tbh. The last story (chapter 5) is honestly weird. Nevermind the age gap, this story too just jumps from 'no feelings (apparently anyway)' to 'here is a marriage proposal'. There was not a hint of any actual romance going on. Granted, it was a oneshot, but even so there was opportunity to showcase the odd romance going on. It just felt random. Not to mention weird, considering the age gap and IF they both wanted to marry each other, it would mean both had feelings for the other previously (so pre-15 year old character B). And I suppose most can agree that's not exactly a story people like. I know it's different in asia, but still: be warned that this is likely worth skipping if you don't care for seeing a 15 year old X 25(?) year old in a random romance happenstance thingy. Would highly recommend this comic! But again, likely skip the last if you aren't into the age gap thing going on there and prefer good writing. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

Young and Pretty Husband

Ongoing | Jyoon | 2022 released

I know I shouldn't judge it based on this alone but...the anatomy of this is ALL over not just one place, but all the places. It makes this equally as unpleasant to read as the story itself. Or maybe even more if I'm honest. There is neither consistency nor quality control and sometimes some panels look either like multiple people worked on the art or some panels are heavily referenced or even traced from something else (one kissing panel and some feet come to mind here). Not gonna waste my time with this and I can't recommend this to anyone either.

Aka To Kuro (katsura Komachi)

Complete | katsura komachi | 2016 released

Not a fan of the writing of this one. The start of the story is entirely jumbled, feeling as if you read chapters inbetween chapters and after missing a whole bunch that give you literally ANY info. To the characters, the setting, etc.. It's just info after info getting thrown at you, as if you should already know who the person is or have read their back story. Which doesn't seem to be the case given there is only a sequel listed on MU. Just not a fan of this type of writing that just bombards you with info and you're left to just take it. The overall story is interesting but people who prefer a good flow of story without being left to wonder here and there might not exactly enjoy it. Give it a go, but be warned that there are issues with the flow of the story.

Bad Boys, Happy Home

Ongoing | Shoowa | 2022 released

My review: https://www.mangago.me/home/mangatopic/19254677/ The overarching story is interesting but the execution in both art and writing has it's issues. The heavy topic of the story as well as the lukewarm ending for the villains isn't my thing a sit played out, but it's still a decent read regardless. Shoowa already showed she has issues with certain parts of writing or randomness when it comes to panels that show things that are just somehow out of place (random expressions especially, without connecting to dialogue or happenings), this is present here alot too. Especially with jumping around, not explaining certain things and just it being left to the reader to just 'deal with it' instead of setting up an explaination. Shoowa really needs to try and get a little more detailed when it comes to these things or set them up differently, since it would enhance her stories alot. The art itself is decent but there are also issues there, mainly the expressions and facial movement that should be there for some expressions. The artist has alot of problems with certain angles and especially the mouth's surrounding skin and muscles look uncanny due to them basically not 'moving' when making expressions. Especially the open mouth panels, front and side view, all look the same. Very 3D-model based without movement of muscles or actual expressions. It's uncanny to look at because this is what you'd see when you take a mannekin or even unalived body and just open their jaw. Much like in a horror movie or such. Which is why the art is often unpleasant to look at. It feels incredibly artificial and 'off'. Pushing many faces into uncanny valley. The artist should really work on that aspect as well as making the fight scenes more impactful. They look quite stiff for some reason. personally not a fan of the artstyle in general for BL. Smut scenes look weird in this shounen style for some reason. But this likely depends on personal taste. The thing I noticed as well is that there is basically no emotions. Maybe alot due to the art issues 8expressions play a key role in this) but overall it just felt bland and emotionless in basically 95% of the comic. And what little emotions did get across where over quick or just too little. This may be a big issue for some readers, others may not care. It depends. Again, the overall story is decent, but the execution has it's issues which made it not as good of a read as I hoped it would be. But this likely depends on what one is used to and knows in terms of art and writing quality, what the personal taste is, etc.. Give it a go, but be prepared for the aforementioned things. I personally am not a fan of it due to the technicalities but maybe you'll like it more. :)
