Megumi and Tsugumi
Aw, I really like this so far! Bummer that it's just the one chapter right now. I look forward to updates. I like when omegaverse stuff plays with the roles and stereotypes. It's nice to see an anti-rape seme, especially one who cares so much. I hope the story stays interesting and unusual. EDIT: Had to drop a star because I just can't stomach the whole "rape is okay because I actually ended up liking it" BS. Whatever. I still like the characters, but I wish they hadn't even included that crap. At any rate, it's up to chapter six now, and they finally have feelings for one another. I just hope from here on out, things are good.
Katsubou Animajemera
Feels a liiiiittle convenient that he's seemingly run into the guy he raped and had consensual sex with him. But hey, it's yaoiland, so whatever. I was mostly intrigued because it's really rare in omegaverse to have the alpha feel guilty for raping an omega. I would love to see that played out more, like genuine trauma from his own actions. I'm guessing this will mostly be smut, which bums me out since I like more story, and the smut so far didn't do much for me. But it's not a bad manga as of chapter one. I guess we'll see how it unfolds. CHAP 2: Still interesting, and the sex as therapy for his past trauma is nice. I really like seeing someone truly damaged by the awful thing they did, specifically rape. You just never see that explored, and it's even rare to see a rapist in a BL even acknowledge that he is one. So I do like that, if nothing else. I wanna see what's going on with that other omega at the brothel, though. I hope he gets a spin off.
Don't Leave After School
Only on chapter 0, but I like that there's a bit of fight in both of them. This could be a good comic. We'll see!
Suki Nante Iwantoite
Hmm... Only one chapter, so I'm not sure yet. The art is honestly hit or miss for me. It can be beautiful, but sometimes it looks awkward. I hope these characters end up fleshed out and awesome, though. I like Minato so far, but I feel less than nothing for the other dude. The straight guy. I hope he becomes more interesting soon. I also get the "sad past" feeling from Minato, so I hope we get to see something like that soon.
Happy Ending Kuso Kurae
Ume, how many straight boys you gonna fuck? Anyway, I liked this at first, but now I don't know how to feel, because I'm not sure how this will go. They're probably going to end up together (and I'd seriously rather Hara had his heart broken while Ume went off with Mori or something), but how are they going to reach that point with everything Hara is doing or has done? They keep playing Ume's legitimate pain for comedy. I don't really get how it's funny to be jerked around like that. Hara calls all the shots, and Ume just goes with it. But the story seems to have this air of self-awareness, so I want to keep going, but I'm really worried it's gonna be one of those weird, yaoiland solutions, where they suddenly at the last minute work it out, and they never really address what a selfish dick Hara is. The thing about that, though, is Hara isn't even really a dick, is he? It seems like he's legitimately mentally challenged. Like, is he mentally delayed, maybe? He literally always has the same expression, no matter what's happening, and he acts entirely on impulse without being considerate of other people's emotions, and he's not coming from a malicious place. It seems like he's either mentally challenged or on the autism spectrum. Either way, they portray him in such an odd way, I feel like it can't be accidental, but who knows. As of chapter three, I'm not sure what to expect. Bring more Mori, though! I'm sick of Ume dancing around this crap.
Zon BL
I knew what to expect, and I read it anyway. Now I'm ugly crying and trying not to sob. This is such a beautiful, tragic story. They just loved each other so much. The back and forth from when their lives were happy and their futures were ahead of them just made it all that much more painful. I just hope there's a heaven for things like this. In a fictional world, we can decide for ourselves that they're together again in death.
Yasaotoko to Sadistic
This was very sweet. Not perfect, but I liked the concept of a bully going after the guy he bullied. I'd like to see more stuff like that. The uptight uke kind of took away some of the fun for me, since I'm not really into the rigid, has-to-be-provoked-over-and-over type. I think he was right to not forgive his bully and start dating him immediately, but he was pretty uptight in his life in general. At any rate, I would have liked to have seen more of them when they were younger, but it was an interesting story. The stalking stuff was a bit more intriguing, too. That's okay, though. I'm glad they got their happy ending.
Sumomo (harada)
Ugh, poor Momo. So fucked up. He went through SO much. This is just another chapter of that. I'm so glad that in Yatamomo we finally got to see the moment where he stops the facade and lets himself cry, truly mourn the awful things he's experienced. Also, his mom is horrible, but I like the concept of her. I would have liked to have seen more of her, like her own spinoff of her life and what not. Harada is pretty amazing in a lot of ways, and one of those ways is that her female characters are always just as interesting and often just as fucked up. Not super common for yaoi.
Shingeki no Kyojin dj - Mihitsu no Koi ni Yoru Ai
Oh god, the fluids. So many fluids. D: This was some seriously fucked up shit. I'm glad it stayed that way, at least, and never became consensual. I hate that in omegaverse. Or in general, but it seems pretty common in that genre in particular. I mostly am horrified by how much dripping there was. It was super disgusting. But whatever, not the worst oneshot I've ever read. I don't like doujinshi that forces a non-canon or unrealistic pair, but I like omegaverse, despite myself, so here I am. This is only the second time I've encountered abortion in omegaverse, though. It'd be interesting to see the concept explored more.
