Thank you so much, everyone, for your advice and for sharing your experiences with me. It genuinely means more than I can say. ️ For now, I’ll keep myself busy with my college entrance preparation and look into therapy as soon as possible. Thank you, truly. (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧   reply

Therapy or counseling is good bc you can talk about things you might not feel comfortable to say with friends or family and they can teach you how to avoid or recover from negative thoughts. Depending on your age and what you are saying to them it is confidential (unless they think you are in danger). If it's hard to make an appointment for somethi......   reply

Rationalize your situatuon. You'll be able to box out things you feel that aren't that useful at the moment. Euhm... I don't want to get personal about it, but like, I don't find cheering myself up helps in the long run. It's better to set some sort of goal and organize your head, at least for me. Not to mention, it's just acting as a counterbal......   reply

Humans aren’t supposed to lived like this. Too much pressure and such a young age could lead to dark thoughts. Just remember that you’re not alone. When I was preparing for my exam, there are time I wish the world would end. Looking back it was kinda silly. I know this is cliche, but findin small positive around you help. You find even the tiniest bit of an excuse every single time the suicidal thoughts intrude. I'm preparing for college entrance exams, I've put so much effort into it. It would be such a waste to kill myself now. I'll wait until after the exams. I finally admitted to myself I am gay. I need to be with at least one girl before I off myself. I'll do......   3 reply

Cold water. Drink it, wash your hands in it, end your showers with it. Take a shower every day, find a couple vegetables that you like, and buy yourself some hard candies cause they’re cheap, sweet, and last a long time. If you have people, talk to them. If you like music, find some songs that are fast and catchy, sing them when you have the time......   1 reply

Number one thing if you want to keep yourself from acting on suicidal thoughts is avoid substances when you're feeling low. Don't drink any alcohol especially. And let yourself reach out for help. You need it and that's okay. I personally find a lot of clarity focusing on the moment I'm in and completely ignoring the past or future. Studying for co......   3 reply

You keep waking up. I was in a similar position, disconnected, alienated, and there are days where you can convince yourself of the glory of life, the experiences ahead of you, and there are days where you can't. It's all so shaky. There's not one metric I would advise to keep an eye on. Accepting yourself isn't as "coming of age* movie montage as ......   1 reply

I’m 17 and preparing for a college entrance exam, but I’m struggling a lot mentally. I’ve dealt with depression before, and I’ve always been very emotionally closed off—keeping everything inside and pretending I’m okay.

I’m also lesbian, and accepting myself has been difficult because of how I was raised and what I was taught to believe about homosexuality. I feel very alone and disconnected from the people around me.

Lately, I’ve been having a lot of suicidal thoughts, and I’m finding it really hard to cope with them. I don’t want to hurt myself. I want to stay safe and get through these thoughts, but I don’t know how. At the same time, I’m trying to keep studying and move forward with my life, which feels incredibly difficult.

How do you keep yourself safe when suicidal thoughts become overwhelming? How do you learn to accept yourself, recover from depression, and keep going without losing yourself in the process?

I’m not looking for judgment or pity. I’d genuinely appreciate some honest, kind advice from anyone who has been through something similar.
