Well to start with, I would recommend becoming ok with the idea of doing stuff alone. You don't have anyone to go with so you're just not going out, and since you're not going places or events you're not meeting new people who might become your friends, and since you're not making friends you don't have anyone to go with.... You're in a vicious cyc......   reply

Seek out clubs or sports, that usually helps a ton. Also don't be scared to talk to people in your classes and ask to share phone numbers for studying. Getting together to study honestly counts as a hangout in my book.   reply

If you are specially looking for making friends with people who are more similar to you culturally, then definitely recommend exploring student organizations. There are student associations for like every race/ethnicity - for example, I am sure they have an Asian American Student Association. Even if you don't care about race/ethnicity, they likely......   reply

agree w what everyone else said above but most importantly, you have to go into it with an open mind. i think you kind of have a narrow mindset by categorizing people into these groups. it makes people feel very one dimensional and gives the idea that they could never be friends/friendly with other people outside of those groups - but that’s just......   reply

I promise you, be extroverted and just go up to them, start from your own major/course, go in person to your classes and talk to the person next to you or on your table, compliment the......   2 reply

When I started college, I talked to the first person I met when getting off the bus. Saying "Oh you study there, too? Which major?" and it led to a conversation. We weren't a good match because our interests and personalities were very different so I tried again when I went to class a few days later. I observed while waiting in the hallway and saw ......   reply

Don't be afraid to talk to people. Yes people are scary but don't let them hold you down. In my first day, i legit talked to everyone (coming from a very introvert girl) i was trying to go out from my comfort zone and i did it. Front, back, left and right. I just talk. I tried finding common interest. If both don't have any. Try using college strug......   1 reply
