how do i make friends at college

I’m a freshman very far away from home and i have no friends. i’m going to a state uni, and man i’m cooked. it’s predominantly white, it’s so hard to make friends and i feel so weird wherever i go. it’s a very liberal school so im happy that there’s people that share my same political stance but idk if anyone shares my interests. there’s cliques already, like the white girls who like to party, the indie white girls who listen to 80s rock, the alt kids, the frat boys and etc but i’m asian and i fit into none of those things. college just started and im already dorm camping and ordering food, i literally don’t eat because i have no one to go with to the dining hall which is like a 25 min walk from my dorm, and even in the welcome week thing, there’s so many people that it’s so hard to just go up to them and talk. i love my roommate but she does her own thing and i love that for her, it’s just so bad because the only person i talk to is literally the one girl who’s republican and it’s bc we are both lonely.

common practice is to go along with people who are the same as you. since you mentioned that your uni is predominantly white, don't be too shy and approach people with common interests. do you game or do you like a certain genre of music? you can bring up topics when getting to know ppl. a trick i learned was to approach people who are alone too an...... reply
