I agree with La0r0o that hate is a very strong, heavy word. Simply put hatred is an immense amount of energy, focus or intention you have to put on anything. Heavy, heavy emphasis on the focus here. Like OP said people have different ways to process emotions. It comes to biology or behavioral inclinations in how you react/respond to handle emotions......
