The author really ignored evolution for the sake of having a light-skinned character. Something as prominent as skin color certainly wouldn't lighten in a span of a few generations.... I don't even know why they added that detail about her ancestors being darker skinned if they weren't going to keep it in. It would've been nice to see a brown-skinned female lead for once, since those don't seem to exist on this platform, but in the end they decided to white-wash her.
Anyways, I really enjoy this story, don't get me wrong. I'm just disappointed to see white-washing used as a random plot device for no legitimate reason. Also, don't @ me. I'm just tired of seeing light skin constantly heralded as the superior pigment all over this industry.

The male characters started out with some semblance of a realistic personality (i.e. have some sort of dimension), but now they've been reduced to stereotypical tropes. Jong Jize is now an obsessive stalker who believes that NingNing's incapable now that he knows she's a woman, and "older brother" is a cheating, scandalizing whore who's angry that his fiance annulled the engagement just as *he* ordered her to do. Literally these two remind me of Jake and Crown Prince from "Beware of the Villainess" - can't believe I used to think they were attractive.

I'm used to reading narratives that have some logical progression in the storyboard (i.e. chronological), so I thought I wouldn't like this one in the long run. It switches between the past and present frequently and without indication, but now I feel like that's part of its charm. Unique story, beautiful art, and lovable characters.
I feel like the seme said and did too many hurtful things to redeem himself. He calls the uke a manwhore without delving into his traumas, rapes him, and is a moocher to boot.... If anything, HE's the manwhore for sleeping through women for a roof over his head. His behavior didn't suggest any character development until the last few panels. Maybe I would've felt better about this narrative if there was one extra chapter/sides of "redemption," but it ended too abruptly imo.
