Right??? This "he's a cousin" factoid is the least interesting detail about what just happened.

because it's a shock factor rather than let's make the story coherent and follow a sense of actuality/ reality. the subject will likely be ignored and never touched upon again. just another plot hole that's ignored in the name of get the mc's together

I know... I'm kinda disappointed tbh. Like... I was hoping they'd hook up and all, but I didn't want their personalities to be a typical seme-uke thing. Tsk.

That's what I felt too. But it wasn't Pyeongcho-nim's fault, they did great in presenting the story in image form, they follow the story really well. In my opinion, the original story itself is a bit lacking; the ending is very anti climactic that I was left thinking "what? that's it?! all this happened bcs of that?!!!". The sudden change in characters' personality and pov was too abrupt. Also, the premise of undercover mission was underutilized imo; the choices and decisions made by the characters were too unbelievable to come from an adult, experinced police officer (I think the author, Mayne, need more research). But the story DID confey the message clearly, that all this is a self-discovery for our budding gays.
So, yeah, hold on till the end. Just wish they give is more raunchy scenes than what we have now to soothe the dissapointment.

(oh my god i’m so sorry, I forgot to reply to this) Well this is what I understand from the story (it may be wrong) we found out in this extra chapter that the little brother was molested by the maid and it’s common fact that if a kid has been molested or abuse at a young age they manifest these experiences onto others - sometimes they don’t even realise these acts aren’t normal - you know how like in almost all abuse stories the abuser was also a victim to abuse once - this same logic can be applied here - this answers the reason on why the little bro sexually assault the mc because thats what he’s been taught and experienced - you can even examine how he doesn’t see anything wrong with the sexual assault - this shows the victims mentality of thinking the abuse is normal because it has been done to him and its psychologically changed his mindset on what’s considered abuse - by the end of the chapter it seems like the little bro understood the weight of his actions (because he’s grown older) and I think he seems more remorseful which is why the mc says “he’s changed” we the readers don’t really know if he really changed but we can hope and take the mc words that he has

now let’s explain the mc shift in personality and why he’s sticking with the little bro - theres two reasons why he stayed - sense of guilt of causing the death of the little bros mother and loneliness - I’m pretty sure I don’t need to explain why he feels a sense of guilt but let me explain the loneliness part because some people might think “why doesn't he stay with the co-worker than?” (I forgot their names I hope you understand who I’m talking about) another thing about abuse victim (specifically sexual abuse victims) is that some not all become sexually active after their abuse - I don’t really understand why but if I had to gusss I think it would be them trying to take back control in their sexual life instead of it getting controlled (my guess) - this is what I thought was going to happen to the mc because

1 We don’t really see much of his friends during this story it doesn’t seem like he had anyone to support him during these abuse - yes I know he had his co-worker but he never trusted him or said anything about his abuse which would made him dealing with these events all alone (for anyone saying I’m just victim blaming the stop - yes the co-worker could have definitely noticed the signs and asked more questions instead of giving up, but we do have to understand there is also some responsibility involved with the victim - like telling the cops or talking with someone they trust - I know this is something people don’t like to admit so I’m expected backlash from this) because

2 He doesn’t seem to have much of a family connection with his father as most kids with single parents are more independent and responsible, that means they don’t rely on their parents which is also what we see here the mc doesn’t rely on his father with his problems because he’s already and adult and he’s was most likely raised that way as most kids with single parents develop these traits

Now I thought the mc was going to become more sexually active because of these reasoning, you know like finally having some type of control - but that didn’t happen what actually happened is worst - it seems like at first the mc wanted to be with the co-worker (even with him thinking he wasn’t good enough it seemed like he still wanted company) and that’s what he got as friends not as lovers which the mc seemed unsatisfied with - here is where the co-worker fucked up he though. The co-worker thought taking things slow was the best option and staying as friends, these situations differ from person to person with coming to dealing with abuse it seems in this case the mc wasn’t satisfied with these choices, probs making himself thinking he really wasn’t good enough when co-worker mentioned they should stay friends which is why he looked for other comfort - his little step brother - both the mc and the little brother are mentally fucked up, they’ve been through abuse and tragedies together - whether it be in the victims perspective or abuser’s perspective - with the mc feeling extreme sense of guilt and loneliness that wasn’t fulfilled by the co-worker or his father (in some cases of absent single parents the children are lonely and sometimes crave sexual partners better knowns as daddy issues) he turned towards the only other person he knows - his step little brother who seemed to have changed for the better - thats what I understood from the ending - im sorry its really long but there was a lot I needed to explain - im also sorry for being so late oh my gosh - also all the stuff I wrote here is what I learnt and understood through the story I can be 100% wrong just saying
