Well fuck it, I am a girl and I find it very sweet? I don't see the male gaze like girls are drawn very cutely but so are man and if you talk about "loli bait" bc girl is short and guy is tall so they basically have a distance relationship. I don't see it but this couple is actually sweet and wholesome, like yea she is short but she acts like someone her age and so does he, Girls in Japan are usually short. No better said all people are on smaller side so he just seems tall

Dawg girls can be super short and also not look like a 10 yr old that wasn't even the point op was making. There's a reason a lot of my male friends really enjoy this manga and horimiya too. They're both super sweet and all but they're also made to appeal to men.

Its quite interesting how yall dont see it because IT TECHNICALLY DOES cater to the male audience with it being a romance shonen. And thank you for asking because people in here have been ignoring my word instead of asking why I think that way. First off you have a male lead who suffers from trauma for being scary and intimidating so his love interest is someone who loves him for himself (his life is centered around women who find him TERRIFYING kinda similar to how reality works right? Women are scared of men and this brings hate towards men which men feel victimized by the fear they brought upon themselves: sexual assault, rape, harassment, etc. that men have done in the past and still are doing now)

im definitely not saying rintaro is one of them but because he is a representative of how men feel towards women who feel fear when it comes to men
Also some scenes are weirdly cliche and written in a very cringy way like that one scene where kaoruko was like “I am kaoruko and you are rintaro!

When you put it that way, I see your point. I mean they I saw a lot of men in comments commenting about how shw is a best girl and why woman aren't like her when they aren't half of the man Rantaro is but I mostly i h more it bc I wanted to enjoy show without going too deep but thank you for explaining and I agree for most parts. Real I read it last year and I was so excited when I found out there was an anime adaptation cause it recently just became my favorite manga cause I liked kaoruko and rintaros dynamic sm… idk if u have tiktok but ive seen videos and comments of guys saying “we dont goon to waguri!!!” AS IF ITS A FUCKING COMPLIMENT MEN ARE SO GROSS no matter how much i loved them, the fandom itself (men) ruined it for me but i cant blame them since this WAS technically targeted for young male audience

he's the kind of character that get obsessive no matter if he is brainwashed/manipulated. I read the novel a while ago so im not really sure but to me he never really respected Penelope. He was okay at first. He could had been the end game but he blew it by bring Yonnve back. That hurted Pene and made her think that she could no longer trust him. His affection got higher and higher which made him become obsessed with her when she abandoned him. Yonnve did manipulate him but he also thought abt bring Yonnve back so that Pene would get kick out and leave with him. So even if he is brainwashed, he still would do the same even if he wasnt. Personally, I hate his guts. like leave pene alone, she's starting to find happiness.
